I popped in (2 hr drive) to Holts at the weekend for their main auction, and the sealed bids; with the wife and younger son in tow. They (holts) couldn’t have been more obliging. Nick holt was there, talking to my 10yr old about what to look for, and checking memsaab was comfortable. Looking through the sealed bids, i bumped into Simon R, who talked us through a gun for my son - who was awestruck, actually starstruck, over ‘the antique-gun guy on youtube’ and spend the next 2 days explaining to me the diff between boxlock/sidelock, damascus/steel barrels. Best weekend trip i’ve had for years. I didn’t win on the main auction, but i’m still hopeing on the sealed bids!

Great review! Crazy thought..Opening scene to the chapter on Ribs... landing on a Norfolk beach standing on a rigid inflatable boat donning a shotgun announcing the conversation all about the subject. ;)

@@tgsoutdoors It's kind of a for fun online, I guess on KZbin, rifleman competition. Basically a way of maintaining traditional riflemen skills. It's just kind of a for fun thing, You can see how good you go. There's different rules and divisions, It's not really that complicated. Rifle chair as the info. A big thing is they have to be able to see You do it, so not a lot of editing. They have a KZbin telling you how. They're not really like KZbin and channel. They're more of an organization that happens to have a KZbin channel for easy information. "Cabin Fever Challenge is a celebration of the skills of our ancestors. The one thing we can share with them is the skill achieved through marksmanship. sights, extended mag release, modified stocks, magwell modifications, etc."

Unfortunately they won't ship to the US without cutting the barrels, so no help there. Shame, since you could add Briley 20 bore tubes very reasonably.

I need to start an import business! Used prices in Britain are crazy cheap in comparison. On another note, recently came across a Franchi international trap from the early 70’s that apparently was crazy expensive new in it’s day. Curious if anyone has seen one or knows anything about them as they weren’t very popular it seems. Not surprising I suppose since they cost about 20% the cost of a new car and the equivalent of 8-10k today but I got it for less than it sold for new so I either got a great deal on a high quality gun or I bought an overpriced clunker that you can’t get parts for 😁

@tgsoutdoors it's a shame. As a youth in my summer holiday staying with family in this neck of the woods, it was always a highlight going in to Lamberts, walking up the squeaky stairs and looking at each and every gun, probably annoying everyone by asking silly questions.

Given your affinity for wierd gadgety pumps, you should spend more time with that broken down gun you momentarily grabbed from the side early in the segment with Simon. It's a forward pumping two shot trap gun from the beginning of the 1900's. I also noticed another somewhat gadgety pump in the catalog: a Remington model 10. Striker fired, and the shell carrier rather than hinged at the rear is side hinged. Not a great design, but interesting.

The more modern winchester didn't deserve to be called winchester's. The 101 line was epic, 6500 is still one of the best guns ever made. Such a shame they fell through, and browning should have Miroku use the original tooling to make a limited run
