Not only did this woman commit stolen valor, she committed fraud for her own personal gain. She lied about having cancer, which in itself is a slap in the face of people who actually have cancer. “You don’t know what it means to get a purple heart”. No offense, respect to military, but purple heart isn’t a big deal any other country. Period. Everywhere else, we fight actual wars. Not just some sand enemies with only ak47s and Toyota trucks. Try fighting someone who also has tanks, air strikes, artillery, missiles. Exactly. To even think that the American military get awarded for “being wounded” when everyone else in other countries EVERYONE gets wounded bc they’re fighting actual wars. Just shows how unprepared Americans are. And this is probably why there’s a saying “every first wave always gets annihilated. Then we learn from them”. Poor boys. @kazeryu17

That one got me as well. All it takes to get a purple heart is to get hurt in combat. It's something that happens to many soldiers who experience combat. You don't see people going around bragging about how great they were at there fast food job, because they burned themselves on the grill. There's no shame in getting a purple heart, but its not something to brag about, and hype up like it's some kind of achievement. If I served in the military, and got a purple heart, I would probably be very bitter about it. I'm bitter about all work related injuries I received in my life.

Everyone wears their medals, ribbons over seas and years in service stripes etc in a Class A uniform. The General in command showed up to our Company formation. The General walked down the line behind me and this kid who had not been to basic had more ribbons ,medals etc than hairs on his head. The General stopped a bit bemused and asked him how he got all the medals and other honors and the kid said, "I went to an Army Navy store and I thought these looked pretty cool." His future section Sergeant had a talk later with our Top Shirt.

How do people do this and live with themselves? Absolutely shameful.

That's how con artists work. They have no problem scamming people for their own personal gain. Even if the scam destroys the lives of those affected by it.

A lot of them sleep just fine. There is a lot of innocent men in prison because of people like that.

A side note... As someone who did NOT serve, but took care of displaced soldiers and Marines, and was subsequently educated, that was the most pathetic salute I've ever seen.

I have my grandfathers Purple Heart and paperwork explaining he was in Normandy and took a flamethrower to the face protecting his fellow solider. We have it framed together and I walk by it everyday on my way downstairs. To see people fake it like this is so disgusting and sad...My grandfather never WANTED the purple heart, and that's the person who truly deserves it. Glad this girl is getting what's coming to her.

What they do, if anything, to her can NEVER be enough for the dishonor and shame she heaped on those that actually served and "earned" those medals. I can think of no one that has a purple heart that wanted it.

@@ammagnolia, obviously you don't understand why I would feel like I do about her and dozens of others that have NO right to wear those medals or fake their military service. Since you probably never served in the military yourself my trying to explain to you why I, as a Vietnam era vet, am offended by her would be like trying to put lipstick on a pig. It wastes my time and just annoys the pig!
