Regarding the assembly line system; if I'm a manager of a factory for shoes, and I've got people who's job it is to simply hammer in one nail; I'd tend to wonder if I'm getting my money's worth, or if I should enlarge their job tasks to do more of the job, especially the more proficient ones.

On the matter of the American War of Independence dissolving the political bonds between England and the USA, and only the political bonds; a lot of British officials thought so too, for a long time in our history at that- in fact, Col. Freemantle described the population of the USA in our civil war as "transplanted Englishmen", and the Founding Fathers would've largely agreed, and replied that the whole credence they had to wage a war was that they weren't being treated *as* Englishmen as far as rights went, same with Edmund Burke as far as viewpoint went.

The embargo of England that the USA engaged in prior to and throughout the War of 1812 would've hurt the British economy big time; they were dependent upon steady influx of raw materials and markets to sell the goods at... course they could simply look elsewhere to buy and sell the goods if one market dries up with regard to their fleet and the freedom of logistics that would yield them.

If you get really sick and can't report to work; well, that's the beauty of the telephone, you contact your boss ASAP and explain why you didn't show up- and if needed, you present a doctor's note for backing up your story.

Beauty of how the factory labor system turned out in the United States: we select our bosses; they bid for our labor, if their conduct isn't safe to work for- they can't win, the best they could hope for is that we separate from them peaceably and go our own way- I've had that happen enough in the real world with losing jobs; sometimes it is due to a miscalculation on the part of someone in the head office dealing with the payroll as I was told in a previous job. Only grievance I would have is the inability to return my previous uniform- and that bugs me to almost no end... but that's how the work world goes: jobs dry up here and there, for any reason under the sun in fact.

I got to 7:45 and had to stop. You don’t understand capitalism if you say an individual doesn’t have influence on the economy. You also don’t see the benefit of the market revolution in the cobbler example you gave. Breaking down the building of a shoe makes it cheaper and scalable. Thus more people have access to shoes. You’re concerns are short sided given the fact that history has brought us to here the most affluent civilization ever.

The people that made the shoes often did not have access to shoes, since the payments that they were receiving were often enough just to replace their labor power used in the production process.
