Also, according to an interview with Guitar Player, he plays with 13-56 gauge Ernie Ball strings with a wound third. Not for tone reasons. He has a very aggressive style and plays so hard his strings often go out of tune, so he uses heavier ones that can stand up to a good beating. Some funny excerpts, ORL: "Part of my discomfort also stems from the fact that I consider myself to be a very brute player. I’m not a guitarist with a lot of finesse or warmth, and I’m always awed when I hear those qualities in the playing of others. Most of the time I’m so much of a brute that I pull the strings out of tune. My mixing engineer [Rich Costey] always says that he can tell when he’s hearing a Mars Volta record because the guitars are slightly out of tune." ------- GP: "What picks and strings do you use?" ORL "I like the orange Dunlop Tortex picks and I use Ernie Ball strings gauged .013 to .056 with a wound third." GP: "Wow, is that why you don’t use a lot of vibrato?" ORL: "Maybe. I never realized my strings were so heavy until other guitar players were like, 'What the f**k are you doing?' When John Frusciante realized I had them he was amazed and kept asking me if I was really doing all those bends using those strings. But if I use lighter strings I really pull them out of tune, because as I said I don’t have a gentle touch- and that also affects my vibrato. Someone like John plays with a lot of finesse, so you can hear all those little things that he does with the vibrato and everything, whereas my playing is sort of bulldozer-esque." Omar had 2 black Supersonics that were modded the same way, though one had an oval sticker near the old input jack. Judging from pics I've seen from both, neither had the logo sanded off.

I honestly didn't know the triangle in the back until I read the comments cause I was so interested in what he was saying. What annoyed me is how he tries to sound cool with the modulated voice and that echo. Who's with me.

That synth wah pedal my first pedal I ever had. I could've sworn that I heard it every now and then when I listen to their live shows back in 2006. I also thought I heard it a lot when the bass player will play live

Someone's probably mentioned it, but I think Omar started to use a Vox AC30 with Bosnian Rainbows. Also a supro guitar which spawned a new Ibanez sig (someone else mentioned this below). Cool video though, impressed you kept it to 13 mins lol

He missed Omar's brown orm1 from the octa tours, and his black jet king from the 2006, 2011 and 2012 tours. He also forgot to mention Omar's supro guitar and Ibáñez supro copy from Bosnian rainbows. He shouldn't have put the Ernie ball guitar in the tmv section, he has only played that in atdi. There's also the st Vincent custom model that he recently got. He should mention Omar's recent pedalboards too. antemasque 2015 had a completely different rig than Bosnian or atdi reunions. He used a fender mustang, A new pedalboard, and an orange half stack. Etc etc etc

Youre nuts if you think supersonics have bad pickups. Thats the only reason i play them at all is because the pickups sound so awesome. Sure, if you need to be a little more diverse and get clean sometimes, the arent the best, but theyre good enough for most of it. Throw some gain on there though and its one of the meanest guitars ive ever played. Truly. If there was a perfect punk guitar out there the supersonic might be it. Also, i might be wrong, but i think omar mightve had more than one. Look at it in the earliest days, its all torn up and stickered and taped, and he has to play over the controls, and the headstock is worn off, then around relationship of command, in the one armed scissor video it looks brand new practically, then right after, its like back to the old way it was minus the stickers and everything was nice and tidy. Also it said squier again after that.

The ORM guitar has always bugged me, because if it's supposed to read as "Omar", it should be OMR, yeah? Or, maybe it's supposed to be his initials: ORL. It's like a typo that made it all the way to the production phase.
