I really enjoyed The Marvels. I thought it was a breath of fresh air after some more lackluster installments like Secret Invasion and Quantumania. It was fun and engaging, and I loved the humor and the characters. And I was surprised by how impactful it will be to the direction of the MCU. To me, this felt more like getting back to the basics of what makes Marvel movies work. This felt like one of the better Phase 2 movies, and if we think about it, we're really in the "Phase 2" part of the Multiverse Saga right now, so this is exactly the kind of movie that Marvel should be making at the moment. I hope many more people go see it, and even if they don't, I hope this doesn't deter Marvel from making more like this going forward. This, plus the absolutely amazing second season of Loki, is why I still love the MCU so much. In my opinion, they saved the two best stories for last this year.

Can an US based accountant explain the Warner Bros tax issue? Even if they get 30M "back" from the Feds, they still get to write off the other 50M in loses against their balance sheet. But if they spent another 30M in marketing, it's likely (if the movie is as good as people say) that the movie would gross say 120M world wide (Blue Beetle made 130M for example), which would mean the same net 50M in losses for the movie, but now they could use that IP forever slowly clawing back revenue. If the movie is a hit, it has a good chance at being profitable. Honestly, the chances they make 60M in revenue to cover 30M in advertising + 30M from the feds are well over 50/50. Taking the 30M and destroying the IP seems like a really bad idea from a financial perspective.

I don't think there's reason to believe they're not just moving forward with Jonathan Majors. I find anytime people talk about the MCU replacing Kang's actor or the character's relevance to their ongoing narratives it's always based on conjecture and plays to public perceptions and nothing else. And, listen, I don't have a dog in this fight, I don't care about the issue itself but I do think it's pretty crummy to keep spreading an idea that floats around as if it's some badly kept secret that everyone knows is true. Because for as long as the idea has been rumored by all the second-hand journalists out there, as far as I can tell it has never had any factual basis. If anyone can refer me to actual proof that Jonathan Majors is, in fact, being considered for replacement at Marvel Studios as Kang, and not just an article where someone suggests that it is a possibility, please do.
@pugman9672

I don’t think there is any actual proof yet that marvel is making moves to replace him, but the reason people are talking about it so much is because there is just no way they aren’t working on some sort of plan B. They need to be ready in case he does turn out to be guilty.
@ultimamage3
@ultimamage3 7 ай бұрын
@@pugman9672 It's gonna be hard for him to "turn out to be guilty" considering a video released (that the prosecution team deliberately hid) showing the ex with literally 0 injuries (no broken middle finger, no ear laceration, absolutely no strangulation as they claimed) about 8 minutes after the alleged altercation happened and bragging to strangers about her being Majors's girlfriend. Then he walks by without even touching her like he wants nothing to do with her and she shouts after him and pushes away some other lady. There's also another video of her at the club the same night, again with no injuries. He's not being tried for "some shit a bunch of people posted on twitter to ride the wave", he's being tried for physical domestic violence, with video evidence that the woman in question wasn't even hurt in the least bit, and NYPD having "probable cause" to arrest the woman instead and then actually arresting her with two misdemeanor charges.

@elliesjournals
@elliesjournals 7 ай бұрын
The Marvels felt like an actual finished movie, both with the effects but also in terms this actually seems to be settings up something. Like, the post credit scenes are related to the movie we just watched and progress their story further while teasing new characters. When was the last time that happened? It was also the first movie in a while to actually cross over characters in a meaningful way. The MCU seems to have completely forgotten characters like Shang-Chi or Sam Wilson’s Captain America even exist! And the Wong cameos have started to feel lazy the way they include him without much rhyme or reason. Where the Guardians Vol 3 left like a closure to a story, The Marvels really felt like a beginning. I wish this had come out much sooner, the heads at Marvel tried to put the franchise on the backs of Multiverse Of Madness and Quantumania and failed but The Marvels offers such a great way forward that those movies didn’t. Left the theater after seeing The Marvels with renewed interest in the MCU, something that had seriously started to wane. Loved the goofy singing planet, reminded me of Guardians 1 and Ragnarok, would’ve loved to get more of that! The only criticism I have for this movie is that there seemed to be a whole movie’s worth of backstory between Dar-Benn and Carol that gets a 3 minute recap in that movie, needed to be fleshed out much more especially considering the short runtime of the movie.

The Weekly Planet but they're brothers, and it's called Two Brothers, with a podcast, and there are angry old ladies, with viking axes, coming after them, and they're gonna get them, and there is an asteroid coming, and it's The Weekly Planet, but it's just two brothers, having a podcast, and it's called Two Brothers, weekly. That is where my brain went during this intro.

Wait IS fnaf doing well. My nieces and nephews are big fans of the lore and the games. They've read all the spin off novels. And they fucking hated it. My eight year old niece said "maybe it's scary for babies, but not anyone else" From what they told me it's a kiddy film where instead of eating children and being possessed, the Robots become friends with a kid. "Big hero 6 style" to quote my other niece

Even in the games, the robots are possessed by children. A bunch of traumatized children becoming friends with a new child isn't that crazy of an idea

@exzyyd392 I played the first game and found it boring. Though I'm happy it reintroduced point and click games to the world. But all Six of my nieces and nephews hated. They've been telling me the ways it breaks lore, how it's not scary, I've even got bold statements like "Scott ruined his own franchise" and I can relate to that, I was a fan of the book Perks of being a wallflower and even though the writer of the book wrote and directed the movie, he took out all the stuff that made the book relatable to me: Cigarettes, LSD, sexual Abuse. Me and Charlie had a similar teenage experience and none of that is in the film. So I feel for the kids. Even if every other FNAF fan thinks this is perfect, the kids feel betrayed by a franchise they love for the first time. And that's rough. Especially with how much Gen z and alpha love FNAF.

Given that similar things happen in the spin-off books, I'm gonna call BS on this comment.

@ReesetteWillows I know nothing about FNAF. The only FNAF fans I know are my 6 Nieces amd Nephews. I'm just repeating what they told me. As they are the only fans I know, they are my full representation of the franchise outside of the first game. If it's BS it's because the kids are trying to BS their uncle.

@ReesetteWillows also they were expecting a horror movie for children and feel ripped off because they feel its just a kids film. Idk if this is a popular opinion in the community or not. I'm just happy people are playing point and click games again.

"The Marvels" is an ok movie. My 8yr old daughter had a good time. I'd say it's a "Marvel Jr." movie. Just a fun popcorn flick for a family movie night. If you don't have kids tho, this is probably not for you. The quality is more Disney+ than MCU movie level.

59:50 "The problem is that a bunch of stuff happened behind the scenes that you didn't see" is legit one of the problems with the MCU. There's a lot of stuff that we do see, that they never use (90% of WandaVision, Secret Wars etc), then an awful lot of things happening off screen. There is a lot of telling us what happened and not showing us.

I think the Marvels is one of the best MCU movies because it feels like a comic book. It's fun, it's fast paced, it's not a groundbreaking dramatic work, but every part of it feels like it works. And even the parts that the boys felt could have gone longer, I think were better short so that they didn't interrupt the movie's pacing too much and left you wanting more of it rather than less, which I think more movies need to rediscover.

I always thought that mutants would be tied to the snap. have some people who came back come back mutated that way you can have magneto and Xavier be old but also explain why its only recently becoming a thing for mutants to exist and become an issue. having it just be remember fox movies well here they are now shut up look we did something with X-Men" Is incredibly lame

Weekly Planet, Holy shit have you not seen The Fanatic directed by Fred Durst and starring John Travolta? The opening line is bout Travolta having to poop and It is just the most brilliantly awful thing you'll ever see. Highly suggest it. You 2 would absolutely love it.

On the star wars news... why Kevin Fiege? Why not Favreau or Filloni, or both? Maybe allow some directors of the more successful episodes of the shows to helm movies. If they allowed Gareth Edwards more free reign, he'd certainly be able to make another good Star Wars movie that could actually make money if they sticks to the methods that worked for him in the past. Him and his team are clever filmmakers.
