I love watching these old commercials. Everything before the computer age and cable TV etc. is like watching a different civilization-even though I remember living through it, you forget how different it was.....funny how we have hundreds of channels now and most of it is worthless commercials, reality shows, and endless reruns of movies......

And here I thought I was the only one. I have old recorded TV movies recorded on VHS and the commercials are strange to watch.

Mary Tyler Moore looks fantastic here. For goodness sakes, we're seeing 1979 commercials - haha!

Thank you for posting this. I remember this when it first aired and long despaired of ever seeing it again. The video quality is also exceptional. Great job!

I just can't really accept the fact that Dick and Mary were never married. Its just sad.. they were like perfect for each other. Despite the age difference they are just perfect for each other.

A little trivia; According to both of them, there was a lot of attraction between them. Had they not been married already they would have likely gotten involved.

Just learned of this show, and am enjoying! Very cool! One thing, though - the same premise (show within a show) was used for the Brady Bunch Hour, which is always cited as the worst TV ever ... I find it kind of ... groovy!

Oddly enough, Mary Tyler Moore never vut a record -- either an album or a single. Her only singing performance ever issued on a record was a stage performance illegally recorded by an audience member and issued on a bootleg LP.

Ultimately, it was. Mary tried to be a combination of Carol Burnett and a female Jack Benny- and it didn't work.

@trapper721 I'm pretty sure she was on broadway before she began a serious television/movie career but if you watch the Dick Van Dyke show they do some really pretty duets in that :) I LOVE Mary's voice :D

@ShadyPines7 The bits with Rob and Laura Petrie are good, but the overall level of writing sucks. It's amazing how quickly American TV went downhill in the '70s; the early '80s ("Hill St. Blues," "St. Elsewhere," the first six or seven years of "Cheers," etc.) were sort of a last blaze of glory.... :-(
