Good Morning! The Empire State Building was modeled after what was originally called the Reynolds Building in WS. It is now the Cardinal Kimpton Hotel. There is or was a framed note and pic of the Empire State Building sent on the 50th anniversary of the Reynolds Building saying "Happy Anniversary, Dad."

Shell gas station has two painted fuel pumps as one is "yellow" and one is"red". Back in the old days there were only two kind of leaded gas in which the colored yellow represented regular and red was for premium and it's color was actually red. Awesome they kept the two colors on the fuel pumps.

I was really hoping to show you around but you figured out all the cool spots yourself. Right next to the Mickey pot is Old Salem which is a 250 year old Moravian settlement and some very old and amazing structures and huge cemetery. You did our area proud. Thanks for visiting. @Steven Thompson I know, right? I live in one of the row houses (Fogle Flats) just across the street from the coffee pot. It's fun to discover this video at random and know that while I was probably indoors, balled up in a down comforter on one of the loveliest snow days we've had in a while, there was someone out there filming something I see every day but take totally for granted. Seeing local sights on film, through someone else's curious & enthusiastic eyes is refreshing and inspires me to get out & about & take things in more 🥰

The Mickey Coffee Pot is a large tin coffee pot which is a local landmark in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. The coffee pot was created in 1858 by tinsmiths Julius and Samuel Mickey as an advertisement for their tin shop on South Main Street. The pot is considered to be a symbol of hospitality and an unofficial symbol of the city.

Love the roadside oddities. They are everywhere in this country! Thanks also for your attention to the ART-- sculptures, statues, advertising, architecture, murals, etc. The oddities are art as well, and their humor is SO needed right now. It is as if the people from the past said " Here- you are going to NEED this someday..." NEXT VIDEO: Mom takes Adam boot and glove shopping!

We had a Duncan Phyfe table and chairs growing up. I wish I had it today. Thomasville was the headquarters of Thomasville furniture. I recognized the name but didn’t put it together right away lol. Fun vlog thank you!

Glad to see you went by the Shell Station. I remember when it was facing demolition and not preserved as it is today. Also glad you saw it during the day and inclimite weather. It is in a ROUGH neighborhood. The RJR building was the model for the empire state. Same architect. No longer RJR HQ. It is currently a hotel an restaurant.

Thanks for sharing all those places. And yes, I was raised calling those "chester drawers" too. It's a southern thing for sure.
