@Brian Babin Well going by 40k lore humanity was heading to species doom. Meaning total annihilation. The emperor did nearly nothing for 30.000+ years because there was no need to do something. But once he received the vision of humanities extinction in the near future he took action in time. Chaos interfered with that but the Imperium is holding on for over 10k years already so i say he was at least partly succesfull. Humanity is not wasted yet.
