Certainly there are some California version of ‘Super Troopers’ roaming around these 4-5 roads Matt regularly “drives”? Matt is a very responsible, attentive, and professional driver out there so I’m not saying he deserves nor trying to jinx him into any tickets or whatnot, but I’m curious as to how he does it, anyone else?

Me too, The way I see it, someone in this field of engineering should be able to design an ac system small enough to cool the inside of these types of cars. And hey, why not figure out a way to take some of the cool air from the ac pump and help to introduce a new kind of "cool air" intake...seems possible but not sure if the power trade off would be beneficial.

Zatharos, in the case of a dual clutch it has a clutch pack that resembles two multi plate clutch assemblies in one. as it grabs one set it simultaneously lets go of another, allowing for shifts that are nearly seamless in power transfer. here is a short description that illustrates it well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmnEeJqJl9migKc

@jo05dk6 жыл бұрын
If that is true they left too early. The pyramids still stand, while the 720S couldn't make it thorugh the press launch without problems. They should have stuck around and tought McLaren to build a car that works for more than five minutes at a time. That said: If they decided to build it properly i totally agree. I love the looks of it, the sound of it, and it's SO freaking fast.

JohnnyNr5 eh, first year of the 720s, most of these problems should be fleshed out in the next couple years or so
@jo05dk6 жыл бұрын
The first reviews of the 720S dropped in may last year if memory serves me right, so the car is at least 15 months old now. ..and this car managed one launch before acting up. McLaren is famous for building cars with all sorts of annoying issues. Instead of throwing new cars on the market every other week, killing off resale values for their customers, i think they would do a great service to the brand, and their customers, if they spend the time needed to correct the problems with their cars. Instead of people going "New McLaren ey? I'll consider it in a year or two when they, hopefully, have got the bugs fixed", it would be great if they just delivered working cars.

It's similar to what's happening in the art world. Great works of art are being stored in climate controlled boxes to protect their condition and value, whereas they used to be lent to museums for viewing by us plebes. So now no one gets to see them. Rally Rd. sounds like it's going to take the great vehicles out of the hands of stewards that would continue to use, share and take care of these the way they were intended. It's depressing.

McLaren really should spend some time fixing the McLareness of their cars, instead of throwing another five new versions of their existing cars out per week. Earlier today i googled the production years of the 12C. Looking at the many cars that have come from McLaren since the 12C it seems a very long time ago they made that one, but no.. The 12C was built from 2011 to 2014! All the new cars we've seen from them since then have come within a span of four years! That's even more insane than i originally thought. ..and i stand by my idea: First learn to build cars that work, then look into making a new version of them.

When they do things like that just switch ignition on without turning the engine over for 1 minute and repeat three or four times and then start the car properly and it should clear if there isn't actually an issue. Terrance Collins the 720s left a 900+ GTR but was finally beaten by a 1200bhp GTR. However there is a lightly modded 720s (bigger turbo wheel & remap) doing 8’s the 1/4 that is quicker than the 1200bhp GTR. It’s astonishing how far other cars need to be modified just to get into the game with a 720s, such amazing engineering.
@DocHavoc05125 жыл бұрын
Leo I get that but a 1200WHP GTR is probably 1/3 the cost of a 720S ... if you put 200,000 into a Nissan GTR you are at the 3000WHP mark

Jimmie Steinberg i thought the n54 was better than the n55. Or was it something to do with the HPFP

Just came here from the 600LT video. Been debating between the two as an enjoyable weekend/semi-daily. The comfort of the 720S is drawing though I feel like its too much of a car to enjoy on the streets of Orange County. The McLaren faults do worry me, specifically considering that the 720 decided to show it's true side mid test.

Might as well be, that the gearbox temperature went to high with that launch, i think that's why you got that warning. When it cooled down it went away

Thank you Matt. We miss you bro

Hey Matt, you should add a polarizer to your lens to get rid of that speaker reflection on the windshield.

I now recognize and know these roads from assetto corsa’s LA canyons - ironically enough I just drove a 720s on it

Goddamn this looks sick... I think I'd pick this over a Huracan, R8, or 488.

R8 cost roughly half so not even in the same ballpark.

Good stuff as usual Matt, I liked how you didn't pull punches. Peace!

Most likely did that because it overheated after the uphill launch. Went away after it cooled down a bit.

Britain at it's finest in terms of supercars. Enjoy. The guy probably flashed to say wow, and not many 720s driving about in your country either.
