I got a stand-up freezer wired a thermostat to it so I can keep it at 36 degrees and put the meat on the racks and let them age. Only down side is you can't take that in the field as easily.

Another great video, Dan. Have you ever considered building or buying/building a permanent walk-in cooler? I got tired of multiple plastic coolers and all that, and ended up going the "turn-key" route for hanging deer. We use it as a walk-in fridge in the off season now, as it's positioned right off my deck. Makes processing game exponentially easier. And its 4" thick insulation and stainless steel on the inside.

Years ago, when Dan had a cabin in Idaho, he built a permanent walk in cooler using a CoolBot and an A/C. Since he sold that place he's been looking for options.

1345.00 for a pop up is really pricey. I can see a couple hundred bucks, but 1345.00?!?!

It’s funny to me because majority of the hunting community either couldn’t afford this or would never buy this to use a few months out of the year. They cater to the KZbinrs in hopes their follows would buy this!

For hunters who are wanting a walk in cooler that doesn't take up permanent space, this is an option. The kit comes with the meat pole, stands and stainless A/C table. Here's what Travis from ID said about his: "So quick and easy to set up. I was recently successfully in taking an elk and the temperatures have been in the 90’s. I had the meat locker set up in my shop and ready to go. I turned on the a/c and cool bot and cooled the meat locker down from 75 to 40 in less than 20 minutes. Highly recommend this meat locker for anyone looking for something portable. Thanks again wild meat gear totally satisfied with my purchase!"

@@WildMeatGear can use an Eskimo ice shanty for a third of the price. It’s way overpriced
@ELKSHAPEGEARАй бұрын
The Ice Shanty doesn't come with all the accessories needed to hang your meat. It also doesn't have as much insulation.

Nice! There are definitely some great DIY systems out there. But for those that don't have room or are not has handy this system is pretty slick!

There was no issue with the coils freezing up due to constantly running?
@WildMeatGear2 ай бұрын
No, the CoolBot has a sensor monitoring the A/C coil temp.

Probably a beast on the electrical bill. Cool unboxing video though.

A 15,000 btu/hr A/C uses about 1,240 watts when the A/C compressor is running - the compressor is not on non-stop.

Buy a deepfreeze and put in the truck bed. Their not much bigger than the yeti and it's the same price if not cheaper. Dont have to buy ice just need a generator.

Thant is a good option but it can be hard to not freeze your meat.

Elk collective game bags????
@ELKSHAPEGEARАй бұрын
They are ones that we had. basically the same as the black Ovis bags but with the elk collective logo.
@withoutprejudice83012 ай бұрын
Yeah that's pricey. Venison last time i checked was $10/lb..........how many pounds would need to be done to break even? A portable carport over that pop-up would block direct sunlight lessening A/C run time. Plus an INKBIRD controller would cost 75% less.
@ELKSHAPEGEARАй бұрын
I will have to look into that controller. wild game isn't cheap no matter how you look at it. I look at it as a bonus to my hunts not a cheap way to get meat.

Not necessarily. You can make a 3x8x6. Probably would be about the same price as that.

So an ice fishing hut with a window ac unit. People will buy anything, I guess.

This has more layers of insulation than an ice fishing hut. but yes that was the inspiration for this system.

defiantly not for everyone. But if you are consistently paying to hang you game meat in a cooler Than it will pay for itself after a few years.

There are definitely cheaper ways to do this but you won't find a more portable meat cooler out there. I know this isn't for everyone but it might be something some people are looking for.
