Mr friendly...as krudd calls you. First great content as always and you are a great man for what u do...but on this one your wrong in my opinion. The stage three tax cuts need to go. They will cost 54 billion or more and will only get more as time goes by...we are on a cost of living crisis and people on 200000 will get a tax cut and although people on 50 thousand will also get one as well but the little tax they get back is nothing as inflation makes it useless for these people. Regardless of it will be an election lie...they all lie..remember no cuts to sbs, ABS etc from Abbott. Just one example. If being in power and not doing something that clearly is in the national interest why be in power in the first place!!!

From GRI: 'In 2017, the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), GRI's independent standard-setting body, initiated a project to develop new disclosures related to tax and payments to governments. This project aimed to help promote greater transparency on an organization’s approach to taxes... [GRI's] roots lie in the non-profit organizations CERES and the Tellus Institute, with involvement of the UN Environment Programme. The aim was to create the first accountability mechanism to ensure companies adhere to responsible environmental conduct principles, which was then broadened to include social, economic and governance issues.' and from the michael west article Jordies mentioned: "[This] legislation follows the reporting requirements in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Tax Standard, which will ensure that the information revealed is complete, meaningful and standardised. GRI reporting on other topics is already used by a majority of large corporations and supported by global investors and other stakeholders. Jason Ward, Principal Analyst, CICTAR (Centre for International Corporate Tax Accountability & Research), says: “The Australian government is showing global leadership by introducing public country-by-country reporting for multinationals. This move will increase transparency and accountability and shine a bright light on where and how multinationals shift profits to avoid the obligation to help fund essential public services and infrastructure around the world.” According to experts, this means that everyone, everywhere, will have access to the same information on how multinationals arrange tax affairs, including governments in low-income countries, shareholders, journalists, workers and campaigners. "Exposure of current practices will encourage an end to abusive tax schemes everywhere. We are confident that the government has the votes to easily pass this landmark legislation, for implementation beginning 1 July, which will begin to level the playing field for all businesses that already pay a fair share and contribute to the communities where profits are generated,” Ward says. Take from that what you will. It definitely shows globally leading initiative from Labor in moving on it the way they have. More good work from the Albanese gov. If we're talking credit for this specific policy, I'd also say the decades of efforts by NGOs, Intl Orgs and policy advocacy groups had a bit to do with it.

Also that Michael West article had an interesting comment on propaganda aimed at forward thinking reformists: "Greens leader Adam Bandt is about to ramp up demands for a tax overhaul this week to apply the PRRT to onshore gas projects and apply a 10% royalty on offshore projects to raise an extra $30bn in revenue. If the recent hysterics are any guide then, we can expect rhetoric from the gas lobby and its PR peons in the fossil media about Bandt and the Greens taking Australia back to the Ice Age. Especially if Labor were to embrace Adam Bandt’s plan to wipe out the gas giants’ carried forward tax credits. But something has to be done. Not only are the immense profits from gas been ripped offshore but households and businesses are being smashed by price gouging while these corporations pay less per dollar of tax than any other sector."

I have to say that FJs are actually changing my view on Labor, and the media. Normally people don’t change their views because of media (myself included), so that is quite an accomplishment. Cracking down on tax evasion is one of the biggest challenges in Govt. The fact that the ALP have started but it got no coverage indicates that we have big problems in this country. Thank you FJ for this video. Like University of Truth
@rtmpgt

In all honesty, the reason why the Media didn't cover it is for the same reasons as to why we got the wrong idea from the media about your case. You were right to whistle blow about war crimes that our soldiers may have done in Afghanistan. That does indeed deserve some merit and should be investigated, Instead what we have is the media siding with the state and attacking you for even daring to question the idea that soldiers may do some fucked shit when in a battlefield. Likewise on this front. Jords gets hounded by the press and other powerful figures for dare calling Labor a good party, when the entire apparatus of the media is to cover up the fact that the Liberals and Greens are nothing more than thorns in the sides of progress. We went to war in Afghanistan for the purposes of serving billionaires, the media is almost always at the beck and call of said billionaires. Labor as a party, finds ways to make them reasonably pay without rocking the boat. That's some absolute judo boss shit if you ask me.

Recently another KZbin channel uploaded an analysis of corporate greenwashing. One of the points which was emphasised was the use of carbon sequestration as a tax deduction through carbon tax credits by oil companies who then use *the exact same gases* in a process called enhanced oil recovery. This involves pumping them under pressure back into oil fields to wring every last drop they can from wells which are nearing the end of commercial viability. The gas (which the company has already claimed for tax purposes as captured and stored) then escapes through old well-shafts and exploratory bores in the same oilfield. So they've in effect released it all again. They claim that it gets trapped below ground and can't find its way back up to the surface again, but the evidence doesn't support that at all. To the contrary, it's all blasted straight back out until a natural equilibrium re-establishes itself and the voids where the oil was return to the same gas pressure which would normally occur at that depth. There doesn't even have to be any other man made holes into the oil-field, the gas will escape as readily through naturally occurring fissures in the rock. The problem is that in the United States the companies are only required to furnish figures about emissions reduced as a result of money spent by the company. So they get to claim back everything they spent on plant, facilities, payroll and promotional outlays in relation to carbon reduction. They spend *a lot* on ads. There's no uniformly enforced monitoring system in place. About 90% of carbon tax credits are paid out in the absence of any kind of verification, since the companies claiming them refuse to submit any kind of plan for measurement of their emissions reduction. Due to the regulatory capture of the EPA, the government doesn't make them do that. They get to claim for whatever they feel they've done to limit impacts, no questions asked. Carbon credits turned the United States Treasury into a corporate slush fund, is what I'm saying. Unrelated to the previous oil company example, Tesla is currently receiving more income from carbon credits than it is from vehicle sales, according to its mandatory public filings.

Journalism has quality. You're surrounded by journalism, but there's sewage in it. Or more accurately, it's like drinking water in London. It's been through someone's mental filters several times, by the time you get it. Journalism should be seen as a source of data (unprocessed water) and information (grey water - useful for the garden, but not for drinking), but NOT as a source of knowledge (100% clean and safe to drink water). You cannot know everything what's going on by relying on journalism alone, because it is a commodity, controlled by powerful people, who have their own agendas. And it's whether their agenda is helpful to you or not, that is the key.

The quickest way Labor could shut the greens out would be to adopt their one, unreservedly good, immediately implementable policy. Raise Jobseeker and rent assistance so that disabled jobseekers aren't living out of their cars or tents. For everything good Labor might do, when they keep getting up in front of the media bragging how they're "Helping those who need it most" they're opening a pretty huge door for criticism while they decide to keep the jobseeker rate at 60% of the poverty line. You love to point out the good the NDIS has done, well, Around 40% of long term jobseekers have some form of disability, usually unable to be treated with their lack of resources, because sometimes things are complicated, or someone just falls through the cracks of a system. So long as they act like that, they might as well be asking the media to go get a statement from the greens. Hell even the malevolent spud can figure out how to take shots at them for that in between whatever incoherent shit he's spewing about nuclear power or elitist indigenous groups. Years back you did a video on the auwu and how the unemployed and disadvantaged deserved better... Well, you have one of the largest platforms in the country. We could really use someone to step up and fill that role right about now.. You've said you are willing to criticise the Labor party when it's valid, well, when it decides it can find the spare cash for a football stadium but not to lift people out of poverty, while telling us we should be happy we get an extra $2 a day while we're being evicted and living off of food banks...

The significant difference between the ALP's 2019 election policy to can the S3 tax cuts and now is a drastically worse national and global economy. To doggedly adhere to an election promise, i.e. not getting rid of the S3 tax cuts when the economic environment is vastly different is mad. IMO the ALP would be forgiven if, in future, they drop them.

My problem with your views on the Labor party isn't that you don't critique them enough - you have your views and we watch you for your perspective, so whatever. It's more that you don't seem to have *any* critique of them at all. Like, you can support Labor and still offer a vision for how they could improve. You almost always advocate for anything they're currently doing, and then when they change their direction you advocate for the change in direction too. You literally do it with the tax cuts - assuming "the electorate didn't want it" rather than Shorten not being a good campaigner and not doing enough to counter Murdoch media narratives. It's fine if you genuinely believe whatever the Labor party is currently in favour of, but don't have a cry when people point that out as a bit of a weak point in your analysis.

Can you imagine if the press gave up on the LNP for this election in favour of the Greens just because of how bad they looked after the last election? And if this happens, what if the greens becomes the opposition, or even wins the election? It'd be history.

I'm sure there are some Australian redditors that are spewing bullshit but... As a citizen of Adelaide, I must say that r/Adelaide is just old people saying, "How do kids walk around on a 10 degree winter's morning wearing just a jacket and SHORTS? THEY MUST BE COLD, RIGHT?" And posts going something like, "Oi, bored and wanna fight. Anyone, any age. meet me at the balls in 30 mins." I am not the most diligent browser of that sub, but I have definitely seen both of those posts at least once. I can only assume there have been more fight requests and attempted drug deals. Speaking of which, worst posts on Australian state subreddits would be a great video. Some of them are quite boring, especially the ones for bigger cities, but Adelaide's is pretty much a smaller, simulated Adelaide. Make of that what you will.

People voted for the greens and the greens hold a balance of power - that tends to suggest that Labor should at least attempt to find compromise with their position? Also, claiming that voters didn't want things in the last election, while very fair, ignores the massive new changes and pressures on Australia. Yes, big media are using the greens as a wedge for anti-labor sentiment, but Labor isn't helping itself on that front either.
