@@icaroamoras Yeah, that video was bullcrap, though he did say that he replayed it recently after a 1 year hiatus from Megaman, and said in a community post that his thoughts mostly haven't changed. I have never played the ZX series, I've only played Megaman Zero 1-3 via the Zero Collection on DS (never beat Zero 4) and just finished Zero 1 and 2 via the new collection on Switch. Can't wait to replay 3! (But I want to finish Dragon Quest 11 before I head back into the Zero Series.) Can't wait to try out ZX and ZX Advent. They seem really fun, even more fun than the Zero Series (I'm not a fan of the Cyber Elf system) and I love metroidvanias and open worlds so they should be really fun.

@@krimsonkatt oh boy, if you don't like ranks and cyber-elves, you'll love Zero 4! It is actually my favourite in the series. I simply love it's level design and Boss fights! I'm playing them all on the Z/ZX legacy Collection, with only ZXA remaining to be beaten. The ZX games are really fun, but I thought that the map in ZX was OVERLY annoying, requiring a lot of unnecessary backtrack (and I don't dislike backtrack!) ZXA on the other hand offers so much more Variety in stages, bosses, powers (even If some are Very situational) and a MUCH better world design that mixes the MM and Metroidvania formulas much nicer than the previous title. I really don't know why J dislikes it!

Being someone who owns and completed the original collection on DS without those extra save points and all of that stuff, watching you jump down those pits and then complain that it's a leap of faith when there's clearly a wall for you to slide down was a bit painful

I'v always thought the character Zero was a badass, but the GBA version made me fall in love with the character. Reploids switching their bulky armor for more sleeker ones made sense, and is my prefered type of character design. Man, Zero 3 was my entry point and I immediately fell in love with the series and after playing Zero 2 and 4, I decided that Zero 3 was and still is my absolute favorite in the series. I bought the collection with no regrets since I wanted an excuse to play Zero 3 and ZX again. Here’s something I found about the art direction. Intie Creates, the company who made these games, also did Megaman 9. Which is probably why two of the guardians, the green and blue one (sorry I don’t know their names) look like Tornado Man and Splash Woman from 9.

Some of my favorite games and a series I come back to every couple years for another 4 game run through (z1 gets shorter with time, since when you're good at the game you can basically stomp the game with like 2 upgrade elves and just sidestep the grinding alltogether). Mega Man zero 3 is definitely the best in the series. I saw J reviews game reviews on these last year and I wound up playing these and had a great time. This zero is also the original zero who's soul is in a new body and his body is being used by omega who has his original body. If you are going to play any of these play Mega Man 3 which has the best story and strongest gameplay.

Love this series. It's what got me into Mega Man in the first place. Despite growing to love the other games, I keep finding myself going back to this and ZX all the time. I love the Zero series so much. It's always been my favorite Mega Man series by far. That thing you described as flow is something that I honestly love so much that it makes it really hard to go back to the X games honestly. Everything being built in a way that compliments skilled and fast gameplay and combat is so good that I find myself screaming that the X series doesn't do more of that tbh :/ Great video! Fun fact: after a certain mission (don't remember which one) in Zero 3 you can check Ciel's computer for info about the guardians where it states that they were created using X's DNA, essentially making them X clones.

Not quite. As established in Mega Man Xtreme 2, Reploid DNA is the Reploid equivalent of a human's soul. So being created from X's DNA means they come from his soul. X's profile on the Rockman Zero Collection (DS) website states that when he sealed the Dark Elf, not only did it force his soul from his body, it split it into five cyber-elves with only one elf retaining his memories. Bodies were made for the five souls with the memoryless ones becoming the four guardians. The one with X's memories, however, went into hiding and so the body made for him was repurposed into Copy X (this last bit comes from Copy X's profile). So the guardians are less X's clones and more actual pieces of X.

I just started the zero series after finishing both the classic series & the X series (forgot about X7 & 8 though) and I love everything about it. The story is so much better in the zero series and for those that haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it.

I could criticize your pronunciations of Ciel and Weil, but they're gratuitous use of French and German respectively. Boss rushes aren't _just_ padding, they're also a test of your personal skill growth (did you barely scrape by those guys the first time, or are you good enough to reliably beat them?) and mastery of the elemental/weapon subsystems. They're often mishandled, but personally they're one of the parts I most _look forward to_ in a good action game.

@@greeneye2037 As I explained at great length, boss rushes serve thematic and game flow purposes and aren't just padding. By that logic having more than one instance of a standard, non-boss enemy is also padding, as are having multiple instances of similar jump challenges. And lots of people care how Ciel is pronounced SEA-el and Weil is pronounced VILE. Particularly French and German natives respectively. Maybe I'm a bit too nice to correct the guy making the video for an honest and easy mistake, but I'm not above correcting you for insisting that adding knowledge is useless.

About that part of Zero getting sealed in X6 (to lead into the Zero Series), that was later "retconned" by Capcom. Officially that Scene happens at some indefinite point in the future, not right after X6 itself, which is why Zero's still around in X7/X8

I love the Z Knuckle. Certain enemies have really cool weapons and it's fun to play around with them. And I loved the Weather system letting you choose your difficulty. It's my favorite entry in the Z series by far. I wish there was more grinding because I didn't wanna stop.

Tbh tho, that X6 ending is just one of the many parallel lines that leads into MMZ. There's one in X5 too, and in X7/8 they seemed to be going that way as well. It's confusing in an awesome way, knowing that all endings are canon and not canon at the same time.

9:25 Ok don't have much problem with this video but how are these areas leaps of faith. Wall sliding is a very prominent ability in these games, so a long wall going down a pit should be a clear indication AND an oppurtunity to react to those hazards.

Interesting thing about zero 3. There's a whole combo system to work with. The basic explanation is that each move you can do has a priority number from 0-5. You can chain moves in ascending priority (Z saber combo into his ryujin ex skill) I'd look up magnus zero's tech guide for more info

In Zero 1, there's an enemy that's a purple spiked pillar early on that you can beat up over and over, because it regenerates segments, making it easy to grind up your weapons, especially the saber.

If you like the Zero Game's story, you'd probably like Azure Striker Gunvolt. It's customization system is better to, IMO. Instead of punishing you for using better items, it rewards you for equipping items that weaken you. However, it mostly drops the weapon system unless you play as Copen in the second game. Still, I can't recommend Gunvolt enough for people who like the Zero series.

Lol, it only starts being complex here. The classic games are as bare bones as you can get and the X series only sorta hints at ideas without actually doing anything with any of them. Honestly the Megaman Franchise has one of the most wasted plots in all of gaming, so much it could've done but it being a kids game it never really decided to tackle any of the ideas it hinted at.

Note to Antdude: Pressing Up on Three of the Biometals (Model H, Model L, Model P) when using charge attacks results in a different charge attack. I want to let you know about this as it took most of Mega Man ZX to find out.
