Jane’s no Mary Sue. He is extremely intelligent, true: this makes him an incredible actor, wit, thinker, and artist. But his intelligence also carries flaws: he is determined to the point of idiocy, can be callous, has no regard for his physical or mental health, is arrogant in some respects and incredibly self-critical in others, and is prone to obssession. A Mary Sue would have no flaws. Another a feature of a Mary Sue is that everyone who hates them is automatically evil. This is not true of Jane: his bosses are good men and women but often dislike him, many normal people in the show think he is rude and arrogant, etc.
