I promised competition footage about this technique at the end of the video. However, I decided to do a voice over first and upload it next week. Let me know in the comments if you want the competition footage right away or prefer with a voice over :)

I would actually prefer both as I like to analyze matches myself before hearing detailed professional breakdown just to see how much I've missed in my analysis. But if your're going to upload only once, then it's better to do it with a voice over I think.

I was able to hit it multiple times in our gym. I’ll update when I hit it in competition. Thank you so much!!!

Eddie Bravo needs to see this one :) Trying it today in class!

Send it to him 😄 Considering how deep 10th planet goes, it would surprise me if it wasn't already part of the system. How did it work?

I'm going to call it "Triton Guard".
@WimDeputterBJJ3 жыл бұрын
I can live with that 😄

That is a cool additional option. Usually if sweep is not possible, I'm going to a dogfight from there, but I can see that this position is better - opponent's weight is on you without any ability to shift it sideways to prevent the sweep (as they do when they have one leg free). Will try it during the next training, probably even tonight's evening 😊

Did it work? 😊

@@WimDeputterBJJ unfortunately I couldn’t get that desired response from a sweep attempt from any of my gym buddies (those that are training nowadays at least) - instead I got the initial sweep each time. So I’ve tried to force it once instead and ended up locking a closed guard. I‘ll keep working on that and post back my results here. My couch could give me a proper response and probably more 😆 He was the one who introduced me to it (to half guard I mean). Unfortunately he’s been off the mat for some time and have to recover after covid... Btw, it is the only guard in which I feel not only safe, but comfortable. I wonder is it or was it the case for you as well?
@WimDeputterBJJ3 жыл бұрын
@@KosRoss half guard you mean? I also used to feel safe in closed guard. Until I taught my students to stack from there 😄

@@WimDeputterBJJ yes, I was talking about half guard, sorry if it wasn’t clear - it is the only guard I feel safe and comfortable in to both attack and defend. Of course I learned closed guard first and it was introduced as basic guard anyone should master to proceed in learning BJJ, but I never dig it as much as half guard.
