I love that you shared your opinion. Abt Zendaya, although I agree that her personality doesn’t match her style,i do think she wears her style well, the theatrics of it all, as opposed to letting the garments wear her n overshadow her.

Your take on Anna+Galliano is SO accurate. Met Gala is her toy. She uses it to make happen what Anna wants to happen, and Anna wants Galliano to happen.
@johnayalachef6 ай бұрын
Anna Wintour is using The Met Gala appointment is her having a chokehold on relevancy. It's very apparent after this year. She's made some really bad decisions and needs to step aside. The rampant monetization, celebrities playing in a dressup box and the vulgarity of wealth pretending to be relatable is done.

Omg you’re the first person to share the same thoughts I Have about Zendaya. I think she seems talented and sweet, but the fashion world is trying so hard to make her an ‘it’ fashion girlie and she simply is not that. She’s not edgy and cool enough. She’s very like preppy, good-American-girl and putting her in high fashion feels forced and tacky. It irks me to no end 😂

My hot take as black woman, is zendaya is code switching for public acceptance but if u know what to look for u can see her real personality underneath and that is cool and relatable that’s why she is an it girl
@violondon87766 ай бұрын
@@teddybrooks6149 I don’t really think it has anything to do with race. Obviously she is trying to take on a different role as a fashion girlie and be seen as that. Point I was making is it just doesn’t seem like it fits her or feel authentic. It’s like if Gigi Hadid started dressing in more edgier pieces. It would be cool and pretty but it wouldn’t really make sense with her more “commercial” fashion style.

The comment on Galliano is so ACCURATE. His collections for Margiela is completely off the mark and just a guise to allow him to create whatever he likes. Anna will NOT let this man go away and insists that he stays on top of everyone's mind. Excited for who is coming after him at Margiela!

I agree with you about it being disrespectful to Margiela to not just call it what it is. That's an important point that I haven't heard any mention of elsewhere online. I differ from you in some of your comments, especially about Zendaya, I think she wears the fashion well and seems to enjoy it since she has come up with a lot of the ideas herself, like wearing the Mugler robot outfit. You have to have some interest in it to do that, and I would argue that it shows authenticity. I too did dislike that green blue dress however. And as far as the gala goes, I would say that it's important to point out why the MET gala is important for fashion and for the regular people on the street. The purpose of it, is after all, to raise money for the costume institute at the MET, which doesn't get funding from the actual museum. It's amazing for the general public to be able to go and see historical clothing up close and learn about the history of fashion. Although I think there is some irony in the whole thing, considering a couple of years ago Kim Kardashian showed up on the carpet wearing Marilyn Monroe's dress, which caused irreversible damage to it. Fast forward to this year, the exhibition showcases garments that can only be shown in dim light, behind glass because they are so fragile. It makes no sense for someone to be on the red carpet, raising money for the sake of the preservation of the very same type of thing they just damaged. Clearly the execution of it all is flawed, but I just wanted to point out the importance of it, even to regular folk.

Agreed! And thank you for mentioning the point of this. Maybe I’m biased because I do kind of relate to Zendaya’s approach (she’s way more stylish than me though). Most of the time I like to be low key but occasionally I go to the other extreme. And I really do love it!!!! I love to dress up but I don’t love to do it often, so to me it makes perfect sense. Imo she wears those looks incredibly well even though it doesn’t match her usual vibe! What happened to poor Marilyn’s dress was awful, it should never have been in Ripley’s care…

Not the biggest fan of Zendaya dress either. Disagree about her not being authentic though and I think people are just trying to box her into who they think Zendaya is. Idk why she can’t have a “nice girl” vibe and also like to serve looks. It just seems very exclusionary. She looks confident on her red carpets looks and sells what she is wearing. At least in my opinion. More shocked about liking Kidman’s dress. Thought it was awful and looked like she was stuffing an ostrich under her dress

Zendaya's looks were not what I was expecting particularly post the Dune press tour with that much hallowed Mugler look. So I was interested in your thoughts. The discourse on Zendaya being a fashion Icon is correct. She's being dressed but it's not organic. I would go so far to say she's a fashion doll, not an interesting emerging actor. When she appeared in the Maria Robot look she stopped being an actor. Her stylist is overpowering her career.

@@akuhappy3246 Thank you for correcting me. I get some of her intentions it's about having fun with fashion. Wearing a robot costume because you can, says nothing about her as an actor. Yeah, it's Muglar I know if you dig deeper, the real reference is Metropolise. A dystopian movie. Marie was a robot and a copy of a woman. A woman without a soul. It's not that deep? Maybe, but hardly a smart choice.

Going to buck the trend and ask for another video- but not on this. The Mid Gala is always a disappointment, littered with bad copies of great dresses/looks most reworked to be more ‘glamorous.’ I don’t need another round of asking myself how an amazing runway look or vintage couture piece could be remade into something so bad. Lana Del Rey’s dress captured the whole sad spectacle. That said, Pat McGrath’s makeup looks were amazing. 👍

Another thing about Artisanal 20204 that upset me is everybody remebering the collection from the chin up, no one remember the clothes, the only one apart from that is the panties Jlo in Schiaparelli is the first sign of the downfall of Daniel, the brand is operating in loss for 2 years, the belt is tighten now, thats why they made that dress so generic, no one was using the Daniel vision.

The Met Gala was rubbish, a lot of celebrities did not follow the theme. At 75 000 ticket, they could more than afford to do better.The celebrities are supposed to be the most creative people on the planet, and this is what they have to offer, all about selling junk we do not need. Even if the dress looks good, how difficult is it to follow the brief. This could be a place that could support domestic industries and create jobs, instead of supporting multinationals that are only in it for the money. I disliked the celebrities flogging high priced jewellery and watches nobody could afford. It’s time for change.

I don’t agree with the Zendaya opinion. As someone who has followed Zendaya since her Disney days, she’s been a fashion girlie and fashion inspo for myself since day one. Maybe not in the high fashion couture way but in the using fashion as personal expression way, which is most important in my opinion. These weren’t my favorite looks from her either. I agree in that but I think just the wrong choice for her on this particular occasion. But you can’t deny her influence in the fashion world for those who have really grown up with her. She has already been a fashion icon in my book since before now. She’s just more front facing now.
