Art is just that imo, something to entertain and make you feel stuff. The Office makes you feel a ton of things, that's why I love it so much

More Glee info/context: the details that the characters discuss at the viewing party ("They did Blinded By The Light with an actual blind guy!") aren't from an actual Glee episode, it's just the Office writers poking fun because that absolutely sounds like the kind of wild shit that would happen on Glee. If anyone's curious, though, the Glee episode they pulled clips from appears to be S2E4 "Duets" (the scene that gets cut off and causes Kelly to scream is the scene where Mr. Schue is announcing the winners of that week's duet competition). ...I've watched both Glee and The Office a few too many times lol

This episode reminds me again why Erin is my favorite character. So sweet and open and there are almost too many hilarious one-liners to count. So many Erin moments got me squawk laughing like a bird

This is a dangerous episode. Twice already, randomly watching a clip from the Viewing Party is what ultimately triggered me into rewatching the whole show. First time through I liked it alright but lost a bit of interest towards the latter seasons. Then a few years later started randomly watching compilations of "best of" characters and I think it was the Erin one that had the scene with Michael where he realizes that he has been kind of a father figure to her. Then it clicked to me so hard how much heart the series has and just how much growth the characters go through. That and the fact that I could barely remember the episode made me want to rewatch it. Then, a couple years go by, someone tells me about extended episodes and there you go, another rewatch. I thought it was enough. Until I started getting sucked into the youtube compilations again and this time what did it was the "Pam, I keep a loaded gun in my desk" scene. I started cracking up so hard out of nowhere that it made my wife curious. That's when I convinced her to give it a chance (she had this total prejudice against American sitcoms) we ended up watching the whole thing and she loved it. We started when she was pregnant and she had the baby when we were around season 4. Season six hit me way harder this time around. I haven't thought about rewatching it at all this last year and a half but tonight, by chance, KZbin recommended me a Mulverine video (which I used to watch religiously but for some reason stopped around a year ago) and it happened to be the Viewing party. Come on, YT definitely knows I have a soft spot for this one. I see it, brilliant video as usual. And it made me nostalgic enough to want to go see some scenes, and I ended up watching the whole damn episode. And loving it so much it's insane. I actually cried a bit when they have the 'you're not my father' scene and I just saw you talk about it for 15 minutes! It's like you know every line of dialogue but at the same time you don't. It always hits you fresh, it's so hard to explain how that is even possible. Anyway, excited to check out your Scranton Strangler mini series. Keep up the good work, man!

3 favorite things- Erin and Michael bonding, the moment that pizza dough hits the fan, and when Andy pukes in the bed. Analysis was great as usual!

In regards to Tony not being there in The Office when the chase was going down, I've always found kind of odd that his phone rang in that moment but Kelly picked it up and hung up. It was probably someone Toby knew trying to see if that was him or not in the footage
@Chadner
@Chadner Жыл бұрын
Not to mention the fact that no one was at reception and still the phone rang directly at his desk. I remember them not having extension lines installed (cause that would jeopardize the receptionist's only job), so how the hell did that phone ring? Maybe Toby being HR and not part of the 'family' (or any family for that matter), granted him his own personal line that corporate could reach directly? Still, the writers did make a point of sending the entire staff to the annex. Which doesn't even make sense because they are all crowded up and not everybody gets a good view. It would make so much more sense for them to watch it from Jim's or Oscar's desk where they would have enough room and they would be all there already. That phone ring is just too weird to be coincidental. That's my two cents.

I always thought it was strange to have so much reference and clips from "Glee" in this episode, especially since that show and "The Office" were on different networks.

Completely agree with how you approach new media. The initial viewing IS raw, intimate, and has no room for others injecting their play-by-play.

I love this episode! I've watched this series soooo many times. It started with the old school DVD's released each season. I can't help but love the episodes with a bit more heart and soul. Michael has a special relationship with both Pam and Erin. I feel like Pam softened him up, (that's what she said), for Erin. They are both very easy to love though. Pam and Erin take care of everyone else, I adore them. I can't, and won't, understand the "Pam is the worst" club. Side note, we used to have "Lost" viewing parties, and please don't take me out of a moment on screen. Discuss after the show! You are not alone my friend!

It amazes me that NBC devoted an episode to promoting a rival show. Also, what if Glee didn't last long. Like, I can't even remember much about Glee a decade later, and I thought that writers were supposed to do references that will last the test of time. I also think this was kind of a high-water mark for Gabe. He got flanderized for the worse after this. He looks like a properly cultured and capable adult here.

Thank you Chris and editor.

Probably already mentioned but the kid from Glee (the invalid) that Michael likes is the same actor who Michael holds hostage (pizza delivery kid) during Ryan's launch party.

tried to watch glee when it aired. watched the first season and a half, but i got annoyed by the high school drama, especially the bullying. i may watch more in the future, especially since 2 of the actors in later seasons go on to play dc superheroes (grant gustin as the flash and Melissa benoist as supergirl)

I always wondered why they picked Toby's desk to film the car chase. Are they trying to tell us something or was it not his desk? LOL I never really looked into it, I just thought it was his desk and if it was then why did they shoot that scene like that?? Oh and Gabe is a huge #tool

I always have had trouble trying to watch stuff when other people don’t and having them want to turn down the volume and Im like “I can’t hear anything now if anything it should be louder.” For this reason closed captioning is perfecr and by now I truly don’t notice it anymore. Im assuming the other side of the argument is like you miss things when you read the captions but idk you can just… NOT look?

7:10 huh. I honestly have never been to a movie where people in the theater talked over the whole thing. I guess maybe the “movie culture” where I live is different. Theaters always treat it like a big no no. Like, every film has a PSA about not talking before it.

I don’t like this episode. I think it is mainly because of the bonding between Erin and Michael. Erin is a character who is to dumb to live. I have a very hard time relating to her.

Erin's bit was awesome and some of Kevin and Darryl's stuff was funny but the rest of this was just lame to me. Seriously, a grown man feeding another grown man just doesn't work as comedy.
