I wanted to revisit a tool that we reviewed 2 years ago. We have been using the Metabo HPT C3607DWAM cordless Rear Handle Saw for a while and wanted to tell you about how often it gets used, and how it holds up.

I just love this saw. I kepe one for rough and use one for cleaner work. So much lighter Amazing sight lines Plenty of power Awesoen depth adjustment Great battery life Could use: Dust port right led Light The makita x2 I have is probably a bit better built but way heavier, not great sight lines

I remember the 18 lbs Skil wormdrive. This thing being lightweight is huge. Oh, lockdown for me.

Yes the low weight makes it our go to saw

I use 3 different saws. Blade left at 6 1/2" for cross cuts and blade right at 7 1/4 for rips. My 10" is blade right and blows the dust away from me when cutting posts and such. I always lock the base so the guard functions as designed. All 3 are Makita

I just wonder how it holds up is foul weather (cold and rain). My flexvolt tools really don't like the rain. Makita seems to handle weather really well (LXT and XGT). Last thing I need is another battery platform but this saw tempting!

It's astonishingly easier to use than the Makita. Better sight lines, plenty of power and the weight is just so much less

Yeah the Metabo HPT tools have really done better in weather than even my Milwaukee tools

Don't waste your money get the 36v metabo sidewinder. If you must get a non dewalt rear handle get a real saw... makita 36v. Apples to oranges on power and overall experience. The metabo rear handle has NO balls and youl be very dissapointed coming from the dewalt wich is the most powerful cordless rear handle

@@timscanlon8825 Absolute opposite experience we have the Dewalt boat anchor which is powerful but ergonomics are poor, Have two of the Makita 36V rear handle but we now have 3 Metabo HPT framers and no one touches the other 3-we converted the Dewalt Flexvolt to the Prazzi beam saw(which is perfect for that application. With the Metabo HPT being so light(and powerful enough for 99% of work) we are able to use it for so many more applications that we would never have used a framer for, especially above the shoulder and head work. Yes the sidewinder is good too

@@timscanlon8825I'd say the Metabo definitely has more power than the 36v Makita. They're actually very similar in feel. The Makita XGT 40v def has more power than the Metabo and it's also very light, but will cost $50-$100 more

If you buy the 36v 4.0ah starter kit for $199.00 right now (4/17/24) at Lowe's, you can get that Saw for Free , not a bad deal ..... 👍🖖

@@brianf9619 got my metabo hpt saw the same way from toolbarn couple of months ago. After i posted this, I happened upon the dewalt flexvolt rear handle deal for $250 with a 9ah battery. Not as cheap as metabo but I needed the flexvolt batteries for my string trimmer and blower. Will definitely reach for the metabo hpt first as it is way lighter. Not to mention if it ever breaks It should have lifetime warranty.

I honestly prefer the 36v sidewinder. While it has 800 fewer rpm it seems to have more torque. I just tried my rear handle today with excitwment thinking since it had 800 more rpm it would blast thru compared to my sidewinder. Major let down. Honestly this saw sucks and i wanted to love it. Save your money and get the sidewinder. People wrote that it was "alittle" less powerful than makita or the other brands but more than made up for it in weight loss. It is lightweight but "alittle less powerful" is really more like half the power of say, the makita 36v. I have both saws and theyre not even in the same ballpark in terms of ease of use and power. The metabo sidewinder is less expensive and all around a much better saw/cutting experience. I love metabo hpt but this saw is pretty much garbage. It will get the job done i guess (if you call groaning and bogging thru every cut getting it done) and its lightweight wich is the ONLY good thing about it. Not even good for up on roofs or areas where less weight is appreciated because the saw is not well balanced making one hand cutting hard without it twisting or whatnot bogging the blade even more with how underpowered it is. Also want to ad im a carpenter by profession and have used all different types of saws so i can tell you from a professional standpoint this saw aint it. Maybe a weekend warrior diyer may appreciate it.

Not sure what your cutting through but we use it for all kinds of framing and timber framing and it doesn't "bog down"
