(1) Why is the on-off switch necessary? Shouldn't the Microsoft Mouse be able to detect if the paired computer powers up, hibernates or gets shut down by the user? Why can't the mouse detect if the hand or finger is on or off it through a haptic sensor? (2) Why is there no rechargeable option where we can plug-in to charge like everything else?

This mouse automatically shuts off when either A.) it is not in use or B.) the device it is connected to is powered down. Furthermore you can power it down with the button on the bottom by continually pressing down until all lights turn off. The battery in this mouse also lasts longer than a full year! (most owners of the mouse have reported). The only real downside to this mouse is the plastic materials and the ultra slim body make it a little awkward to hold at least until you get used to it. It would have been nice to see some higher quality materials in the mouse such as aluminum which adds a little heft and rigidity while providing a more premium feel. This is what makes apples mice look/feel so premium. Personally I cannot stand using the apple magic mouse because of the shape and the super sensitive touch scroll. The Microsoft mouse shown here is a GREAT alternative for someone who is on the go with a laptop or smaller device. It's small size makes it easy to store, the battery lasts forever, and there are no wires to deal with. It connects VERY easily and once it has been paired it will quickly and automatically connect without any issues. I highly recommend this mouse!
