I am a bit confused about the hypogastric plexuses. The inferior plexus is mixed, so why add the superior plexus into it as well?

Isn't it the inferior hypogastric plexus that controls the IUS?

Inferior mesenteric ganglion. Hypogastric nerve comes from this and its postganglionic sympathetic neuron releases noradrenaline/norepinephrine which binds on a1-adrenergic receptors that will constrict/contract it (IUS) which will favour saving of urin. Meanwhile neuron fibres from inf. hyp. ganglion will also release NE/NA but bind to detrusor muscle's b3-adrenergic receptors on bladder which will relax favoring urine saving as well.
