Update for the work I have done so far to my 1957 Fordson Major. I really am impressed with the quality of this machine, how easy it is to work on and the availability of new parts

looks pretty similar to the Ford 4000 I use at my work, except it's gas!

The Fordson Super major which was the last and most powerful variation in the series became the Ford 5000 in the 60's. The Fordson dexta became the ford 3000. The Majors and Dextas were all made in England

+1944johndeerel sweet! I didn't know that! I do know that they are better quality then the newer new Holland built "ford" tractors, like the 1920 and 555 we also have

+dirtshower250 the new holland ag tractors today I am told are being built by Fiat and I have not heard much good about lol. Your 1920 was actually made in Japan by Shibaura who builds fords compact tractors and they are excellent machines! Much like my 650, and 790 Deere's were built in Japan by yanmar. The Fordson name was adopted by the England Ford tractor division and unlike most English sports cars Fordson tractors are extreamly tough and overbuilt but very easy to work on and get parts for they can also be found world wide. Mine is pushing 50hp it's rated to pull 4-14" bottom plows and a standard 38hp major would out pull a John Deere 60 by 1000lbs who knows what mine would do the 1957 MKII variation which mine is was never Nebraska tested all I know for sure is it makes between 45-50 hp and they more or less changed the manifolds and put bigger plungers in the pump to squeeze more power out than a standard major
