Take me back to Toad's Place or Tuxedo Junction in the early 90s...half drunk and climbing on the stage to dance with the Bosstones...dive off into the crowd and surf until they let you down...the Bosstones were the quintessential New England music scene and every show was a once in a lifetime experience. MAN THEY WERE GOOD!!!

I know right? All the pretentious bullshit wasn't standard. People were just being themselves. nobody was talking about racisim or division hardly as much. Yeah, there were racial issues and people talking about politics but the difference was a lot of people were not giving to the negativity--they weren't letting it become the predominant attitude and thinking. "This is the 90's" meant, "we're past all that stuff and not going to get caught up in it" Fast forward today and we can't for the life of anybody ever stop the drama....

Ska is such a great genre. It created reggae, yet lead to evolutions and combinations of punk, jazz, rock, metal, and hip-hop, yet it still holds itself up by the true roots of their music. It's like taking everything from every genre, adding horn sections, and making amazing upbeat music.

One day who knows Someday, someday I suppose There was a verse that I was gonna write I haven't yet But there's still a chance I might an open book That I still want to close I'll find the time Someday I suppose a place and time I want to be and spend a storyline That's happy in the end plans are made With promises so certainly uncertain I can't wait to set things straight Before they close the curtain One day! One day who knows Someday, someday I suppose The more I sort things out The more it gets distorted I sort of think I'm better off just leaving it unsorted The more I try to change its course The more off course it goes Of course I'll reach my destination someday I suppose Sort it out Get distorted One day who knows Hide behind Unreported Someday I suppose There was a place And the name of the place escapes me When I can't remember It irritates me Could be I can't remember Could be I choose to not Let's move the song along And try to find the plot There was a girl and I don't know her name either She gave me love and I swore I'd never leave her If I did, I'd come back someday and find her Maybe I will, I should write down a reminder One day! Correction, a couple of the bands that broke big first in the ska genre - like The Mighty Might Bosstones are truly excellent. Most ska bands are poor copies of the originals. Most ska bands suck ass or are mediocre at the very best and have opinions of themselves out all proportion to reality. Basically if all the genres of music were individual bands; ska would be equivalent to Nickelback. Sure there are some high points - like the Bosstones - but in general it's really best left unplayed.

One day, 6-24-20 I find myself in a car reading Jane Austen's Emma, my brother came out and saw me, he sat down next to me and said "y'know they made a movie of this that I want you to watch with me called Clueless, except they made it and set it in the 90's" a day later I watched it with him. Day by day I find myself speaking words like " as if!, I totally paused, and some random none-sense" yet still I still speak none understandably random Shakespearean things. It is by far one of my favorite. Movies. SHOUT OUT to all the 2019 6th grade English Teachers who take away their Ane Frank books and won't read the class Wuthering Heights!

One of my favorite songs from The Bosstones, but most definitely my favorite track from their album, Don't Know How To Party. Had it not been for The Bosstones, and hearing them for the first time, back in the early part of the '90s, I'm not so sure if I would have ever gotten into Ska, at all, which would have been a d**n shame, because I would have, more than likely, not even have paid much attention to that ska/punk boom we had, back in the mid '90s to the earlier '00s, and I would have missed out on so many great bands back then, and never have gotten to see several of them live, either. Really, really miss The Bosstones. H**l, I really, really miss that time back then, too. Completely insane when I realize that this song, and Don't Know How to Party, are over 30 years old now. Where has the f**king time gone to, man??? Kinda depressing, to be honest with you. Lol. 😢

Back in the 90's when we had Ska shows in Philly, we had the Head liner and two opening Bands and you got up and danced from the first song till the last, those shows ruled and they were only about $8 or so. Boston could Rock back in the day too.

So much steez back then, and Bosstones were drippin in it. Nobody sounded like them. So much dope Ska in the 90's. Even the short lived smaller bands like skankin' pickle had more funk and style than anything these days. Buck-O-Nine, Voodoo, Mustered Plug, Toasters, Reel Big Fish, list goes on and on. 3rd wave Ska was the bomb.. i don't even know what "wave" were in these days. Maybe I need to get my old ass out there again and hit the floor. I do miss the rude girls.
