For a video made by Bloomberg, this is really a miss. 1- Most of the footages used in this video are from old neighborhoods in Saudi Arabic (in 3:39, 4:14, and more). 2- Most of the people in these footages are not Saudis; they are Indians, Pakistanis, and Yemenis! Although they are part of the fabric of Saudi Arabia, they do not represent Saudi citizens. The best example I can give is: Making a video about USA while using footages from Detroit as a representative of Contemporary USA (NYC) and including visitors (Non-citizens) as representatives of citizens.

The youth of Saudi Arabia think that "work" means being a "manager" who gets an office at some company and occasionally has to show up to work, yell at some low-level expats from Bangladesh and then have a tea-boy make tea for him and his friends while they congratulate each other on how important each of them is. Every single college faced the same problems: Saudis don't believe in actual work and just think that they should be "managers" over expatriate workers from poor nations. They all want to be a prince with slaves working for them as it used to be before 1961 when slavery was finally abolished.

However, there are many Saudis who work so hard and respect those less fortunate individuals from other nationalities. I am a young Saudi in my mid twenties, I didn’t have everything on a silver platter. I had been working so hard to be where I am today. I graduated from college with first honor while working a part time job. Spent a year looking for a job in academia and also making a lot of money as a photographer . A year later I got the job of my dream and I’m currently teaching Applied Linguistics at a university as well as preparing to do my M.A. abroad. So please don’t generalize if you didn’t have the opportunity to see enough hardworking Saudis during your stay in the kingdom. I know a lot of friends who run their own restaurants and cafes and are also very respectful of their employees regardless of their nationalities.
