There are yearly limits on the cash you can contribute to your retirement account but your retirement account can earn unlimited amount each year with the investment you make. It’s more about the money you can make within the account vs how much money you can just take for your checking account and put into your retirement account.

Because it’s self-directed you can take the money and invest in things to bring back more money into your account. It’s not how much contribution you make it’s more about how much money you can make within the IRA. I hope that makes sense

So if I have 6K in the account and use it to make 20K, I'm able to keep the entire 20K in the account and use it again at a later date to replicate the return? Love the content, but i think most ppl want to live off passive returns in their golden years, and getting 12% yield is pretty hard to do passively. By passive I mean less than 4~hrs per month. I know I don’t want to be grinding in my 60s the way I’m grinding in my 20s. Currently im yielding 8-10% holding “risky” REITs and MLPs, which is where I plan to put most of my equity by that time in my life, alongside some commercial REI that is managed by someone else *ideally*. Any ideas for turning your active gains into passive income? I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on that!
