I'd forgotten that one of the things I love most about poi is the way my brain feels when learning and unlocking new patterns. Thank you for reminding me of this, and for giving so much delicious food for thought and flow. Much love

Feels like I played with a lot of these, but not at all according to this framework. Seeing them all laid out is pretty fucking awesome. Well done my dude!

Thank you! I've played around with a couple of them over the years, too...but it was realizing how they all fit together and that using those rules you could find more patterns that I definitely hadn't played with that I realized I was onto something here. I'm pretty proud of this one!

Dude, remember Pierre's hybrid grid from back in the day? We need a grid like that now for all your CAP combos! This is awesome stuff, Drex! Thanks!

That very thought occurred to me, too!

Do you still have that grid?

brain exploding as I'm starting to imagine all the possibilties of taking these and putting them in horizontal or vertical stacking patterns. or even... right angle combinations???

The well is SOOOOOO freaking deep on these. That's one of the reasons I didn't even dip my toes into a lot of that stuff. There's so many different directions to take this that it feels like trying to eat an elephant in a single bite!

Hey Drex, amazing stuff! Had a question on something you didn't cover, wanted to see if you think about it the same. I never thought the C-CAP and 1.5s were related because intuitively, I feel a C-CAP as 2 beats, and the 1.5 as three beats. I was trying to understand why. Performing all these CAPs, I think I understand now - if the CAP is a 3:-1, meaning it changes direction like the 1.5, all of these felt like 3 beats to me (1 for the pedal, and 2 for the pendulum or linear isolation, I feel them at both endpoints, as in the normal 1.5, and I also feel 2 points doing the point isolation as well). The 3:1 CAPs though that stay the same direction, all feel like 2 beats! Ex. Diamond 3:-1 C-CAP, clearly feels like three beats given that linear extension, whereas 3:1 O-CAP feels like 2 beats, just like normal triquetra. Does this match your intuition too?? Thanks man really love everything you do for the community!

Oh and, I was also thinking about this because you were talking about the combinations. I was trying to do the classic C-CAP and 1.5 as a hybrid, and couldn't get it, because it feels like a weird 2:3 polyrhythm. Would love to know, if you've tried - are these 2:3 feel hybrids possible? I'm guessing it would be easier to do the hybrids if they have the same feel of downbeats

Also to be fair, as you collapse poi paths down into lines, I think.. you can think of the point isolation as collapsing the line down to the point as well.

Hey Drex, what's the software you use to model those poi animations demonstrating all those different CAPs?

All the animations here were done using Adobe After Effects.

Huh...that's weird. According to MailChimp only one person has signed up for that email and they haven't clicked any links and I just checked the email template and the link is definitely right. Let me take a look at this one.
