dude if i was making a movie and people's responses to a leaked concept page were as bad as they were for this, i wouldn't even bother taking it down. i would take the money i would've spent having digital hitmen track down every copy of the image and spent it on totally redoing the visuals of the movie so the leak would be retroactively wrong. i'd do what paramount did and delay the movie so i could put out something people didn't absolutely hate the look of

Its interesting seeing how corporations respond to a real leak like this. Normally when stuff is "leaked" its just the company releasing it on purpose as a marketing strategy, but you can tell this is real because theyre fighting against it, which rarely actually happens nowadays.

I'd argue that in some cases, it could just as easily be the companies having the common sense to realize that cracking down on the leaks will just make them blow up more. Microsoft does not have common sense, as the Azure crash earlier in the week (technically last week now) demonstrated. Edit: This comment is *not* referring to the Cloudstrike issue (which seems to _still_ be an ongoing issue), but to how Microsoft Azure went down for a few hours in the same window of time the Cloudstrike issue started. I tried to double check on who's fault the Azure crash was, and it has been overshadowed so heavily (even _while it was happening,_ frustratingly enough) that I can barely find anything on it, but my initial assessment of Microsoft being to blame for the Azure failure seems accurate from what little I've found, and the issues seem to be separate. I was wrong on some details, but those are mainly related to the specific details of the two incidents, and most of Microsoft 365 becoming non-functional due to Azure breaking still fits my joke.

WB has way more lawyers and way less to deal with than the government. Additionally they can do whatever they like with their money (as long as their beancounters let them) whereas the government has to justify spending taxpayer money (a slow, bureaucratic process). Hence why every large corporation nowadays is more powerful (in civil matters) than the average nation.

That's how it works in German copyright law: work-for-hire doesn't exist as a concept, and authorship rights are legally nontransferable. Corporations literally can't own copyright in creative works under that framework, they can only be given exclusive licenses to them.

@@ThePaperKhan Copyright is an economic incentive that serves two purposes- it incentivizes innovation by promising authors exclusive rights to their creations, and it protects individuals and smaller companies with limited resources from being muscled out of their own idea by a large company with the resources to outmatch their budget. Thing is- large companies already have massive incentives to creatively innovate. If they don’t, they end up just churning out the same slop endlessly, which already happens (case in point, the Minecraft movie) and, believe it or not, is a bad business strategy that audiences eventually get tired of. And no company with $50m in resources is so strapped for cash that they can’t compete with the megacorps in the creative space. So what’s the point of giving a large company copyright privileges? They’re just going to use them to stifle innovation and general creativity, which is the opposite of what copyright is supposed to do.
