This video tells the story of China's remarkable Ming Dynasty! We follow the Ming's journey from small beginnings to becoming one of the world's greatest empires.
The Ming founder Zhu Yuanzhang overthrew the Mongol rulers and re-established Han Chinese power. The early Ming achieved amazing feats like building the Forbidden City and sending huge navy voyages to Africa.
Ming armies kept China's borders safe while Ming influence spread across East Asia. Trade and agriculture boomed, allowing arts, dramas, porcelain-making and more to flourish.
But later, corruption and disasters weakened the Ming. Peasant revolts overwhelmed the declining Ming military, letting rebels ultimately capture Beijing and end the dynasty.
The Ming made a deep cultural impact and remains one of China's greatest imperial eras. Its almost 300 years of success launched China into an early modern golden age.

Mongols ruled China for less than 100 years, not 'many centuries'. They are today one of the 56 officially recognized ethnic groups of China. There are more Mongols today in China than in Mongolia although many have assimilated themselves.

The Ming dynasty can lay its glorious beginnings in the earlier, ethnic Han dynasty, the Song, a greatly underrated Chinese dynasty now beginning to be recognized as a new golden age in Chinese civilization. In many ways, Ming China was a continuation of the grand Song dynasty after a century interruption of Mongol rule.
@Ealsante

Absolute rubbish. The Song was the peak of Chinese culture. Ming China was a peasant's idea of a wealthy empire, an idiot's idea of a cultural centre. The saying is true: China died after Yashan (the final battle of the Mongol conquest).

The Yuan Dynasty cannot represent Mongolia. You know, under the oppression of the Yuan Dynasty, most ordinary herdsmen on the Mongolian plateau went bankrupt and entered China as slaves. The Ming Dynasty cannot represent China either. The corrupt rule in the late Ming Dynasty led to millions of farmers uprisings and overthrew her. The border defense forces of the Ming Dynasty chose to join the Qing Dynasty because they were oppressed. The feudal dynasty can never represent a nation because the ruled civilians are not nobles

i disagree, ming creat a new era of which far greater than song dynasty, although song has its time in cultural influence such as arts, poem and great economic but lacks in millitary as well their mindset in peace without military backing it up. ming has totally different concept to that, they flourishs because of their great military and later on due to curroption and rebellion within as well traitor the dynasty quickly lose their footstep. i would said ming is an evolution of song as it enrich in politic as well military might around the worlds and cultural influence that is widely known till modern days..

Fun fact, almost all Chinese legends were made in Ming Dynasty. Journey to the west, Neza, story of Er lang, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and tons of other stories from ancient of thousands years were created and published in Ming dynasty. The nation so flourish, the demand of novel stories and chinese opera were very high. Story tellers mixed every ancient history with legends from middle east, india, and south east asia to spice up the story. People like Luo Guanzhong (creator of 3 kingdoms) hired hundreds of story makers and poets to write the grand novel.

Overall, it is like this: fundamentally, it's about court politics and factional struggles, which are secondary factors. At that time, it coincidentally encountered the Little Ice Age and some natural disasters, such as major earthquakes, and large explosion incidents. There are claims of an explosion at the capital's ammunition depot, and others of a meteorite impact. There were also some hugely costly foreign wars and diplomatic activities, all of which affected production and taxation. But the main issue was still internal political problems. Ming dynasty actually stood a chance against the Manchus if their bureaucratic government wasn't so corrupt. One of their most effective generals that held off 200,000 Manchurians with just 9,000 troops was executed by political rivals after they placed false charges on him after he won the battles. This continued on with other series of executions of effective generals until other Ming generals started defecting to the Qing side. Late Ming was a cesspool of incompetence.

Por que? They overthrew the Mongols to establish the Ming Dynasty. The remnants of the Mongol/Yuan Dyansty splintered and occupied Mongolia, their more traditional lands. Conflict with the Ming Dynasty continued, with victories and losses on both sides. The Mongols never again posed an existential threat to the Ming, as the Manchus in Manchuria did in the late Ming imperial era

The Ming emperor helped Korea to repulse Japanese invasion of Korea in an attempt to conquer China. Hideyoshi’s dream was shattered to pieces as the Ming emperor sent 20000 of his troops to help the Korean people at the last decade of the 16th century. Peace treaty was forced upon the Japanese as they have lost the war. During the time of the Ming dynasty the famous admiral Zheng He made three voyages through the south China sea to the eastern part of Africa with the biggest armada ever built, the dragon armada.

the Ming dynasty was the most technologically advanced and most powerful global power during its time. The Ming dynasty should have sent Zheng He's and his treasure fleet, not just on a mission to trade, but to colonize to settle new lands. Especially, sail to Europe and colonize them, to save the world from 500 years of colonial hell. China would have connected the entire world through trade and prosperity. The Mongol Yuan dynasty lasted just about 91 years, just under one century. The Mongol overlords had no prior experience ruling and managing large, complex nations like China, which relied on a large, complex, coordinated beauracracy of thousands of highly educated and literate men. The Mongols attempted to rule China greatly influenced by steppe nomad culture. As a result in a short time China became bankrupt and its infrastructure and society deteriorated, exacerbated by widespread governmental inefficiency, ineffectiveness and debilitating corruption. Cracks in the Mongol government had already began to manifest under the extraordinary Emperor Kublai Khan. The Yuan dynasty held together under the next Yuan emperor but began its inexorable decline thereafter where as many as 23 Yuan emperors assumed the throne only to die prematurely or be overthrown.

There are several reasons why some people may have a negative perception of the Ming Dynasty: 1. Authoritarian Rule: The Ming Dynasty's centralized government often ruled with an iron fist, implementing strict laws and regulations that limited personal freedoms. 2. Confucian Orthodoxy: The Ming Dynasty placed a heavy emphasis on Confucian ideology, which could be restrictive and rigid in its social structures and expectations. 3. Economic Issues: The Ming Dynasty faced economic challenges such as corruption, inefficiency, and widespread poverty, which could lead to dissatisfaction among the population. 4. Cultural Suppression: The Ming Dynasty promoted traditional Chinese culture while suppressing foreign influences, which could be seen as limiting cultural diversity and exchange. 5. Ming-Qing Transition: The decline of the Ming Dynasty and the subsequent rise of the Qing Dynasty may have created negative perceptions of the Ming as a period of weakness and instability. Overall, varying perspectives on the Ming Dynasty may stem from differing opinions on its governance, cultural policies, economic performance, and historical context. Historians and individuals may have differing interpretations of the dynasty's impact on Chinese society, leading to mixed views on its legacy.

Under the leadership of Emperor Yongle Zhu Di, the Ming Dynasty had the opportunity to conquer the Mongolian Plateau. Emperor Yongle once launched three expeditions to Mongolia, allowing the Tatar tribes in eastern Mongolia to submit to the Ming Dynasty. Unfortunately, the military achievements of the Ming Dynasty were destroyed by his grandson. The sixth emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Qizhen, lost 200000 elite soldiers during his expedition to the Walla region of Mongolia. From then on, the Ming Dynasty formed a military confrontation with various Mongolian tribes inside and outside the Great Wall and never launched an expedition again

This is the main problem of Chinese dynasties, especially the ones ruled by the Han locals. After centuries of prosperity and power, the corruption and negligence starts to seep in for the next few decades until the government literally decays to the point that regular citizens have to revolt and replace the empire with a new one. But that new one will repeat the same mistake as their predecessors. It's like a recycle every few hundred years. And every time they isolate themselves, they decay into stupidity and regression. Today's China's government is not really any different. They isolate themselves twice and it went bad (1950-1978 & after 1-2 years of covid, they decided to prolong the isolation for another year). Just imagine if just one dynasty could actually hold on for 800-1000 years, the inventions and advancement would be pretty insane!

It’s called “not having a robust nobility class to ensure relatively bloodless monarchical successions and relative parity between multiple mostly competent potential ascendants to the throne”. Medieval Europe clearly had it, but even the classical Romans had it even if not of the same kind as the land-owning medieval lords, so did their Byzantine / Eastern Roman successors. China’s system ensured a family “monopoly” on absolute power with relatively weaker nobility power-and therefore ensured that positive can only change with violent overthrows of said monopoly rather than letting the free market of like-minded oligarchs outcompete each other peacefully in becoming competent rulers. Not to say the Western way is completely better in all ways-at least commoners in imperial China could become somewhat powerful much more easily than commoners in medieval Europe through meritocracy, or much more powerful if they lead a successful rebellion and take the Mandate of Heaven!-but one advantage over China is certainly much less bloody and disastrously unstable political systems.

@@ZhangK71 i had not considered how important having a noble aristocracy might be to political stability. funny, i always considered it in the opposite way; european nobles always seemed to be a massive headache for the monarch, think medieval france or the HRE. but even if they're constantly competing with one another, at least there's a steady pool of candidates... hell, the fact that they're locked in eternal competition might actually be a benefit, because they're being honed and less likely to fall into idle stagnation like the chinese dynasties. i think of europe's states fighting each other for centuries and how europe was driven by competition to be better and stronger, resulting in great technologies and their eventual conquests of the world

I think, the Yuan capital was Dadou where Beijing was. You gave Zhu Yuanzhang too much credit. By the time he joined the rebel, the Yuan court had already lost control of the area below the Long River (Yangtze) due to in fighting among themselves. There were many rebel groups who have fought the Mongol years before Zhu even joined in. He rose to power after murdering his old boss Han Shantong and Han's son. After the Battle at Lake Poyang where his group fought with Chen Youliang group, that was when he proclaimed the Mandate of Heaven at Jiangkang, then he renamed it to Nanjing. i don't think Zhu Yuanzhang is given too much credit, so an orphelin beggar from a poor peasant family manged to unify China again after 200-300 years' division, it is quite impressive, since Song Dynasty had lost the northern China for centuries, but Zhu takes them back, under Zhu's rule, Ming Chinese troops even successfully invaded the capital of Mongol Yuan Dynasty located in Mongolia, than captured the imperial family members of thr Great Khan, during thr Buir Lake battle, i think we have rigjt to criticize Zhu Yuanzhang and Mao Zedong's policies, but downplaying their military achievement don't seem to convincing, especially some people just pretend that Zhu and Mao simply won by chance,

确实,作为中国人,我们非常可惜在19世纪全球化的时候,中国向世界展现的不是一个汉族王朝,那么多优秀的东西被满清毁禁了

The maps you are using are wrong. You either showed the map of Qing China or those of modern China. You also had no negative things to say about China. This channel is a CCP supported media.

In those days, there were no human rights, no sanction and no nanometers chips. No electronics. No jets and fighter planes and no rockets to the moon and mars. Where was USA during those years?

The pronunciations are especially terrible in this video. I don't expect non-Chinese speakers to be perfect. But they are really bad in this video, almost to the point of not being recognizable.😂

What was most fascinating? You gushing so much about this dynasty. You barely touched the negative parts of its history and even then quickly seemed to dismiss those. Is this supposed to be a history video or a nationalistic advertizement?

I’m not saying that legitimizes him, but the dude is literally trying to make people interested in other cultures, dude. If you go watch big history channels like Kings And Generals, they mostly focus on military stuff (is that “good”, or “bad”?), and even on other topics they barely touch any “negative parts” either. “Everyone does it” doesn’t make it right, but at least it makes it so you’d have to call almost all history channels “nationalistic advertisement”. Besides, doesn’t this channel make videos on other cultures, too? Does he do this on those other videos? If so, are you saying he’s making nationalistic propaganda for every country?

I guess it's smart by your standards to "not even bother"... considering I didn't put anything in your mouth and was just giving a polite response to your opinion with my own. God, a life must suck to be this afraid of dissenting opinions lmao@@inotaishu1
