My mom was going to bottle feed my 2 month old while my husband and I go on a date. I jokingly said “if ya need, just turn on FrugalFitMom, because that’s what I watch whenever I nurse her..” *she tends to fight off the bottle get fussy* Tonight I asked her how giving her a bottle went..she said “I just turned on that show & she didn’t have any issues.” 😂😂 So, my infant finds comfort in your channel..

I combined Dawn's 5 minute rule with Cass's idea to declutter 21 items out of your house every week. I actually just went thru the closet in our spare room. I bagged up 26 items in excellent condition for Goodwill. My partner did the same. Everything is already out in my car so I can drive thru tomorrow

Great idea! I like to go what I call Purge 10 in the Fly Lady morning routine. It can be donations or trash and if I can't find 10 items, I delete old photos off my phone to equal 10.

CAs from Clutterbug has taught me so much about just keeping spaces tidy. I do the 5 minute pick up rule before going to bed. 5 minutes makes a big difference. Give everyone a basket and 5 minutes before bed, each person picks up their stuff, and puts it in its home…..voila🥳

I had to return something. I asked the company how to return. She said just turn the bag inside out, tape shut, and add label. Those bags are strong. I sometimes use them as garbage bags!

Yes! No need to buy return mailers. Just keep the ones that your clothes come in and reuse. The bags in Australia are designed that way. You cut them on the line and they already have the sticky tab on the inside so that you can reuse.

FWIW, please don't get rid of your photo negatives. They are the best way to reprint any photos in the future. I've been scanning family photos, slides, and negatives. Many times, I've found the photos that match the negatives in different places. Without fail, the negatives and slides look SO much better than the scanned photos. They're the master, it makes sense. If you need to contain them, you can get negative sleeves that will store them correctly and you can then place them in a 3 ring binder. Your kids and (possible) future grandkids will thank you.
@dobycorder3206
@dobycorder3206 Жыл бұрын
There’s no way some of us have the mental space or time to get sleeves and insert to preserve negatives of pics we haven’t looked at for years 😅. It’s more important for most of us to just let it go.

For 18 years I’d been scrapbooking my son’s life and he and his dad have never had any interest in seeing the photos. Kids today are focused on this moment and not on the past. When he graduated high school I retired from photos and scrapbooks. Now we live for the moment together and talk about recent events without any photo evidence. The relief is so welcomed.
@LeighIR
@LeighIR Жыл бұрын
@@dobycorder3206 I put them in the sleeves while watching TV. It really didn't take much time at all. It also meant they were safe and took up less space than a box of pictures and negatives. You may have not looked at them for years, but there may be folks years down the road who would treasure them. Due to her early passing, I only have about 5 pictures of my Mother's mother (passed when my Mother was 10). One of those is because a negative was saved.
@LeighIR
@LeighIR Жыл бұрын
@@sarahouser3100 I've never been into scrapbooking, for I'm not that crafty. I understand how, now that the fad has faded a bit, having binder after binder of photos can be overwhelming. They may not look at them now, but they will be useful later on. This is about to get a bit morbid, but stick with me. Because I had scanned family pictures, slides, and negatives, when my parents passed away I was able to put together a much better selection of images for the slideshow that played before their service. I've now helped four other dear friends do the same for their loved ones. Make sure you're in the pictures with your kids. Don't just be the one taking them. The pictures you think are the worst/funniest and "oh, this one is bad, we should trash it", may be the one your kids love the most, years from now.

Back in 2018, when I first started on my declutter journey my house was a mess! Each room was its only disaster. So I grabbed a few trash bags and some empty boxes and in each room, I put all the stuff from the floor, surface tops or shelves into the boxes and all clothes went into the trash bags. Things that were obvious trash was sorted out and thrown away. I did this quickly in each room without taking the time to sort between keep or donate. I would stack the boxes in a corner of that room. This gave me a quick win as I could see all the space and walk around. I finished with a good vacuuming of each room. Then every night I would grab a box and go through it. It was either donate, trash or keep. If it was a keep item it would be taken to where it’s “home” was in my home (thanks to Dana from A Slob Comes Clean). Some nights I was able to go through a couple of boxes. I also found that I had lots of duplicates (who needs 5 hammers?) I had two teenagers at home so I made them go through the boxes & bags with their stuff too. My daughter hardly kept anything whereas my son is the sentimental one. On the weekends I would go through the bags of clothes. It took me almost 2 months to get everything sorted and all the boxes/bags cleared out. In the process, I got rid of 40% of the stuff. 7 carloads to donation and a overflowing trash can every week for 2 months. As I was still working, I had work clothes and at-home clothes, which meant I still had too many clothes. In 2020, I bought my home and I retired shortly thereafter. It was another chance to get rid of more clothes (work) and other items that would not fit into my new home. After being here for 2 years now, I am ready to do another round of declutter and organizing. It may even make the process go faster!! 👍👍

Dusting hack. I also procrastinate dusting jobs that should be really quick. However, I started to notice random socks being abandoned in different parts of the house. Who knows if it’s the work of the owner or the dog reorganizing the laundry. Either way, when I pick up relatively clean socks, I use them to do a quick dust on the way to the hamper.

Don't get rid of furniture pieces!!! You're kids are not that far away from living out of the home - the older pieces I kept worked great for off-campus living during their college days and their first, second and third apartments!!! We didn't spend any money to furnish those placed and we didn't care what happened to them. The pieces of furniture I sold/donated before then I wish I'd kept! Luckily other parents filled in the holes.

I'm the exact same way with dusting. I honestly think it's because my mom made that my "chore" every week. My sister always just sort of waved a feather duster at stuff and called it good. I always got everything actually clean. Like, I carried a bowl of warm water and "wet dusted" everything. My sister called me a suck-up, but I did it that way because dust makes me horribly itchy.
