Finally getting around to this episode, and just in time for me to have a gripe I can share... How, after 25+ years of operation, can someone run a convention so badly. Our local pop culture con/expo has gone from featuring a range of hobbies and sci-fi stuff to being mostly homemade craft stalls and anime. Oh, and big companies setting up stands which blast EDM music. We still have celebrity guests attending, but that's quickly becoming the only draw for me. I'm not looking down on the crafters (who are generally lovely people, and very skilled) and anime fans. But when the only wargaming is a bunch of events being held in a separate building a short distance from the main event, and the only RPGing is a bunch of paid sessions held in secluded rooms, it feels like they're taking a very narrow view of 'pop culture'. Which, really, is exactly what they're doing. They're focusing on the bits which make the most money. They could have a booth where people are walked through a game to get an idea for how something plays, but those booths cost a lot of money. Instead, we get a panel van that's been modified so people can sit inside and play Fortnite. Yay.

Edit: Ditched the huge political ramble i did (which was doom scrolly and in agreement withthese wonderful nerds), Snipe having that anxiety about enjoying things (bg3) is a frigging mood, big empathy there

Do you think Australia has a higher density of people with special needs and mental illness due to the whole "penal colony" thing, or is it just that the ones who know how to use the internet and talk about it are the ones who get diagnosed? Speaking as someone with Cerebral Palsy and ADHD, it interests me to know about such things.
