Did you know James Storm was in the National Wrestling Alliance? James Storm was TNA World Heavyweight champion for a very short time and never held the belt again. I always felt like they could have built the company around The Cowboy and this was a mistake by TNA. So when Billy Corgan signed him for NWA I believed we would finally see James Storm at the top of the card. So I've watched back Storm's short NWA run in 2021. Will he finally reach his potential? does he still drink beer? Find out all of that on more on Ring Of The Hawk!

I met James Storm when he came down to Hunter Valley Wrestling (Australia) and had the honour of introducing him to the ring. Absolute legend, I’ve met many international wrestlers and they are normally just tired & not that friendly. Storm was happy to chat with everyone there, let the meet & greet go longer so people with standard tickets could still meet him and he even did ring crew.

James Storm is one of those guys who have always been high calibre. I really believe that the swerve tna did where they had him become champ instead of Roode then Roode turned heel is arguably the best piece of booking ever done in wrestling. James Storm was and still is my fave "Homegrown" TNA star. Yes you had AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Abyss and such but I always liked that James Storm was just a regular guy, with a relateable gimmick, kind of almost like a TNA-ified Stone Cold Steve Austin, minus the whole "Feud with the Boss" stuff. But he seems like a genuine dude with a genuine connection with the fans which you jusy don't see much anymore. Always wanted him to have a go at being "The Guy" in a company sometime, shame TNA never really capitalised on him and NWA was so entrenched in having Aldis as Champ. Maybe he can go back to NXT and have another go in WWE'S fold now than Vinnie Mac has been deleted and Papa H is running things. Great vid btw Hawkster.

I met Storm at a TNA meet and greet event for Slammiversary 2006. He was a heel at that time yet he was more fan friendly than most of the babyfaces. I never understood why TNA didn’t make him their world champion for longer. And the NWA missed the opportunity too. I was really excited when James Storm showed up in NXT but then he left and returned to Impact Wrestling. Is Storm even still wrestling anymore? He’s a missed opportunity in pro wrestling for sure.

James Storm is one of wrestlings biggest missed opportunities in the last 25 years along with Sean O’Haire, Marcus Cor Von/Monty Brown, and Chris Harris (ironically) But James Storm has said in interviews that the reason why he was never pushed beyond a certain level is because he never played politics and was happy where he was on the card. As for Billy Corgan’s NWA, that was in danger the minute Tony Khan, Cody, Omega and The Bucks started AEW. Once AEW arrived the NWA had no chance to succeed.
