I'm sure you've seen my "get rid of the 30, and permanently make the 12A" around the traps. Solves all issues. Like. All.

I can't see any traffic between stations or passenger traffic along Victoria St to justify the cost, not to mention needing to build more trams to service more routes. The vast majority of existing passengers along Victoria St are coming into the CBD or Docklands with some wanting to to the outer northern fringe but they have Swanston, Elizabeth & William Streets to jump onto to get there. Extending the existing Terminus on Footscray Rd in Docklands to link up with Route 82 in Footscray could be useful especially if it was included in the current major works along Footscray Rd but we've missed that chance.

Can't see any traffic? What about all the people in the many, many cars? Some of them might take a tram if the tram was going to take them where they wanted to go. You can't judge demand for a service that isn't there by people who aren't using the service that isn't there.

That's weird. I remember a few years ago, before covid, traveling in a tram from Flinders Street to the dental hospital, and I remember the siding from Swanson st to Victoria parade not being used. And I remember the tram along swanston st would go over the other tram line along Victoria parade. But as I look on google earth, I see there IS NO tram line there, or ever was

If anything they would want more trams to the west of the CBD. Route 86 is always busy now due to all the apartments down there even late at night.

Anoither great video. I cannot think of any reason people would need to use public transport between St Vincent's and the Royal Melbourne
@BeastsTransport25 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching. Although not many people might go directly between the two hospitals, it would be convenient for people coming in from the east to be able to take a more direct route bypassing most of the CBD

@@BeastsTransport I appreciate that you are a public transport channel, and that is what you consider. IMO, the problem with any capital city is all roads, rails, tracks lead to the city. very hard to get from one side to the other without having to deal with city congestion
@AshleyReynolds-vc6ly25 күн бұрын
@@BeastsTransport It may be convenient, but there would not be enough people coming from the east going to the Royal Melb Hospital to justify having their own dedicated service, especially when the only benefit for them is travelling along the north of the CBD instead of through the centre.

This is gunzel dreaming. There would not be enough patronage to justify the construction costs, let alone the operating costs, of any of the proposed routes you mention. The money would be better spent on more urgent and needy transport projects. As you have already pointed out, the few passengers who would use the service between the hospitals can easily change trams at La Trobe St. Extending a Swanston St route to either Arden or the Childrens Hospital would be futile - Arden to Swanston St will be covered by the new train tunnel, and the area in between is already served by the 57 tram. A service to Flemington Rd from Swanston St is not needed because there are already services from Elizabeth St and William St. A tram from Highpoint to Victoria Gardens would also be useless - the 57 tram runs every 8 minutes during the day, an additional service would mean a tram every 4 mins on the common section and there would not be the patronage to justify such an extravagance. If the new service ran less frequently it would be futile because anyone who wanted to use it would not wait for it, they would catch the 57 to the city and change to a 12 or 109. An historical note: the Victoria St missing link was first proposed back in the 1940s and rejected. It was considered that a line along La Trobe St was a better alternative and it was opened in 1951.
