Thanks for the very kind words! The original compositions offer so much to work with and it definitely adds a whole other dimension to them having an association to the films. I think that's one of the reasons I favor listening to soundtracks vs stand-alone pieces. While I've probably listened to the entirety of Dvorak's "New World Symphony" a few hundred times and it's hand's down my favorite classical piece of all time, the one thing it doesn't have for me personally is an association that invokes additional emotions. The combination of Hisaishi's scores and Miyazaki's films certainly is a magical one and it makes me so happy to hear you say that I was able to tap into that!

Thank you for the kind words! I love his films as well and have been watching live performances of Joe Hisaishi conducting a full orchestra for them recently and enjoying every minute of it! My girlfriend said the same thing, she got teary-eyed during the first part of the Totoro main theme :-D

It was 100% my girlfriend's idea haha. I mean I love his films and Joe Hisaishi as a composer but I was looking more at classic game themes to arrange when she suggested doing a theme from a Miyazaki film and I was like, why not a bunch!?
