Which, to be fair, is a lot cheaper than other 8.6blk guns on the market
@soonerfrac46114 ай бұрын
While I tend to agree, let’s look at the entire spectrum of the Dissent lineup. Virtually all are over 1800, and all the adult sized frames are 20-21. Should it be better for what you’re paying? Probably. But it’s in the same ballpark as the rest of them.
@TheBlacksmith54 ай бұрын
@soonerfrac4611 most 8.6 guns available are in the 3k-3200+, so 33% off is great. Plus having more companies invested in the caliber will incentivise more companies to jump in. So I'll cheer everytime a company joins in, especially larger companies. Because I want this round, and the technology in it, to succeed and become plentiful.
@soonerfrac46114 ай бұрын
@TheBlacksmith5 Same here. IMO there’s zero reason why it should be as expensive as it has been. Nothing has changed except the diameter and the twist rate. I guess in theory it would require a rifling machine dedicated to it, or possibly a delay every time you make a batch of barrels. But even that seems trivial. Unfortunately, as good as this round could be, I just don’t see it taking off without some major purchase by a department or big name manufacturers start really pushing it.
@TheBlacksmith54 ай бұрын
@soonerfrac4611 I think the main reason it's been so expensive is due to the fact it's *technically* a wildcat without SAAMI approval. So only boutique brands have hopped in so far. Q is always expensive, Faxon is on the higher end as well, GQ Armory is as high as Q, and basically everything else is custom work. CMMG is by no means an affordable brand either, but they're the first prominent company to take up the caliber.

That doesn't fit in an ar10 or ar15. But I did notice that Q just made a prototype fix in 375 ruger. That might have a sufficient magwell to load 510 whisper (or a different competing design). At the very least it could load a double stack of 458 socom with long loaded bullets.

is the upper DPMS?? Or is it proprietary to the Dissent lower?
@CMMG4 ай бұрын
The DISSENT uppers themselves are proprietary since they house the compact action and utilize a forward side charger. They should fit on DPMS patterened lowers though. Unfortunately there is no set standard on the .308 sizes, so that's why we say "should". Some companies do slight variances.
