As a Las Vegas resident I felt it was my duty to visit the Mob Museum located in downtown "old Las Vegas" near Fremont street.
If you are a gun guy it is interesting to see the weapons used by both sides of the law. Lots of Thompson submachine guns for sure! I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a firearms simulation video trainer with a real handgun for visitors to use. That was the highlight for me.
And if you are interested in US history or US law or American gangsters...then this is probably a good place to visit if you are ever in Vegas.
Enjoy this sneak peek video.

the history is interesting for sure. The level of city state and federal corruption was probably more interesting than the gangsters themselves. Or should I say....more scary.

mixflip You are so far ahead of me on the bucket list . Have you ever thought of videoing in the storm drains where people have gone to live in ? I saw it on the discovery channel .
@mixflip
@mixflip 9 жыл бұрын
krazy45cat I've heard about those storm drain people. I have a nice storm drain near my house in an empty subdivision that is being built. I think it would make for a great shelter if we had to go underground for some reason. I'm paranoid of confined spaces though due to my years as a refinery firefighter. I fear low oxygen down there or deadly gases....lol

I actually got a chance to shoot a tommy gun a few weeks ago at my local range. Gunsmith was doing some work on it and taking shots with it. I went over to him and he just let me have at it! After shooting about 30 rounds I was toast, that thing was heavy!

It's a damnable shame the famous Thompson sub-machinegun, including both the pre-World War II Models 1921 and 1928 (manufactured by Colt Firearms under license from Auto-Ordnance Corp) are usually associated with gangster, mobsters, and formerly organized crime. The Thompson was designed and intended rightly as both a military and police weapon: U..S. Army, Navy, Marine Corp, Coast Guard and of course law enforcement: local municipal police, county sheriffs, state police and highway patrol, and federal: FBI, Secret Service, Customs, Border Patrol, etc. For more on this subject I endorse these online videos below: NRA Tales Of The Gun: The Tommy Gun Hickock 45: Has an online You Tube video on the Thompson sub-machinegun. R. Lee Ermey's "Lock and Load". Even the online historical video: "U.S. Army Military Police Corps" (documentary) The vast majority of Thompson sub-machine guns I have already alluded to were already in use by law enforcement, the military, including being stored inside prison arsenals. During World War II (1939-1945) the Thompson saw extensive use among *Allied troops and commandos, including the British and Canadians. It would continue on seeing action during the Korean War (1950-1953) and into the early stages of the Vietnam War (1961-1975). The adoption of the M-14 rifle in May 1957 by the U.S. Army (later the Marine Corp), and also the M-16 rifle which eventually replaced the M-14, would eventually declare the Thompson obsolete in the U.S. Armed Forces. *Yes, including in the hands of U.S. Army Military Police, including British and Canadians, guarding prisoners of war: especially Nazi SS and Japanese war criminals awaiting trials for war crimes, atrocities, etc. James A.
