I actually have a labor price matrix i use... I have pricing from 0-9 years old 10-15 years old 16-20 years old a rate 21 years and older I'm in the rust belt... Even a 5 year old vehicle can be a nightmare at times!
@Matthewjo223 ай бұрын
it is interesting price structure, I've never seen before

@@Matthewjo22 I've seen it on the changing the industry channel somewhere... Mine is allot more Conservative compared to how they structured theirs... They were changing pricing like every 4 years and the rust belt thing was mentioned in it lol. However... Depending on the vehicle I may charge accordingly... For instance, I just worked on a 93 Taurus that was a cream puff... With 87k original miles! I charged at the 0-9 rate on that one

I work on a lot of 40-50yo cars and unless it's a car I've already worked on before and know it's overall condition I tell customers I can't give them a quote. It takes what it takes. I've only ever had a two people balk at that.

Another successful video in the books. I like the that you have a camera on top of your box where most of us have tools 😂. Please don't take it to heart I'm as scarastic as they come. See you in the next one 👍 🇨🇦 🔧

Everyone runs their business differently. If ppl want to leave money on the table thats their fault. We learn from mistakes and only experience and time will teach that. While some of these guys out here are being cheap and pushing mediocre repairs others are killing it.

I agree. You can't just give a quote like this. It's all book time. If he's even saying he's going to do it in 30 minutes. Who knows if he's even living. We didn't see the proof
@Matthewjo223 ай бұрын
yeah, even if he can or he can't, we do this for living, i cannot work like this, just throw numbers, i need to know my income and outgoing and hrs so i can schedule my next appointments

Never quote anything before seeing it and touching it. A brake pad and rotor job is an hour per wheel for example, but let say it comes in and the rotors are rusted, caliber and bolts are rusted, lines are leaking. Now what. It's not an hour, it's 2-3 per wheel

Imo Matthew Parker does to many favors for customers and always feels sorry for the customer. Every customer has a sad story and is low on money. If he stopped treating his customers as his buddies he would make twice the money and have 1/2 the headaches.

That's me to a T. I give away money to strangers and it takes away the amount of food I can put on the table at home. It's something I struggle with constantly. I used to do so much side work but now in the later of my career it's hard enough to get thru the 9 to 5. Tough trade but I wouldn't change it if I could 👍🇨🇦🔧

in my opinion, helping people is a great thing people can offer, but we need to consider this to, we have to grow to, someone gave me this advice many years ago, think like a tree, if you don't haver strong root, if yoi cannot bear fruit it is to early to offer your fruit, we need to grow first financially after than we can help, we can change the world

@@Matthewjo22 very well put. Keep putting this stuff out there for the younger generation to carry on in the trade 👍 🇨🇦 🔧

I agree with this except for him losing it on money thing... He seems to have a growing social media presence which will probably make up for the loss of if revenue he could be making from his auto services... That guy has a hell of a big heart but in my opinion it makes everyone else look like they are ripping customers off because he gives away so much when in reality, MOST mobile techs or even techs in shops do not have social media monetization to fall back on, we have lots of overhead. I have videos on my KZbin but I'm not making any money from them... I edit them down for fun and hope it can help someone out (techs mainly)... I don't really explain things that well because I'm not giving anyone silver bullets to fix their cars for free and I'm mostly talking to myself and jibber jabber a lot 😂 the unedited versions are not public though, I keep them for documentation reasons.
