People are definitely experiencing woke fatigue. I knew it would happen at some point. I just didn't expect the delay from when it started to the general backlash to be that long. I guess people were afraid for a long time because people who spoke out against it were made an example of time and time again.

Very good discussion on the state of affairs between product providers and the customer. The counter culture that has been promoted, for certain, is simply exploitation of a small minority. Radical ideas available these days were not tolerated then and are scorned now. If one worked in customer service, the clerk would ask: "How can we help you and what would you like?" Currently, many businesses just tell the customer, here's what we think you need. I've seen other creators on social media make their own content based on franchises they love. The same goes for writing novels or other media and art. It's a positive response to bad rubbish being aggressively pushed. In general, many folks appreciate well crafted ideas and will pay a fair price for it.

Most of the good stuff these days comes from independent creators. All of the aggressive garbage by Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and the media conglomerates in New York is generally poor quality.

That's one of the huge reasons why I love shopping at smaller, family-owned businesses when I can, but unlike some, I don't think that Amazon harms small businesses, but it helps them. I have discovered some of the best novels, and dare I might admit,some of the best products based on feedback and recommendations from Amazon! I find that the smaller organizations will ask the question, what would you like? My concern is how this attitude in the world could potentially kill art (I'm into crystals, runes, statuettes, and so on). From that, some of the artsy-fartsy stuff I love isn't a huge money maker at all, but I have somehow kept my values of the basic talent of humanity, and the beauty in a hand-made item closer than ever to my big heart. That's an unacceptable value in the eyes of the "modern audience"; if it doesn't make money, then it doesn't belong on the table, or on the counter, in their eyes. I feel like myself and those like me are one of the last bastions of hope for a past which needs to be preserved...some traditions deserve to be upheld and honored...the harmless ones, the sweet ones, the familiar ones. I will shut up now, for this is probably better elaborated upon as a blog post. (see my channel for a link to my blog.)

It’s about power. The biggest problem I had with the pandemic was not the virus itself, but the fact that it gave the rich and powerful even more power to handle. This is what I mean when I say we had more balance 20 - 30 years ago. There is no balance anymore. Kids have to put more into their entry level jobs than they did just a couple decades ago. Gen Z has so much stacked against them.

"The liberal way." Do as I say or you will face dire consequences. As for video games, since that's a hobby I've been practicing for 30+ years, there is a distinct shift, and studios are being hit with massive layoffs, closures, and all the nasty stuff, for following the marxist rules of engagement. But it's only going to get worse, before it gets better. CDPR, studio from my country, first signed the DEI chart, then moved to the US, and now they hired a nose ring haver who writes stuff like "I want to punch gamers," and "gamers are depraved fascists" as their LORE designer on a new Witcher game. Game, trailer for which shows, that indeed lore is very low on their priority list. I don't run any business, I mean I freelance, but I don't have employees or anything. However if I had employees, and they started calling our customers "depraved fascists" I would have put up a public statement on every social media apologizing, and fired the offender instantly. But that's probably why I'm not a successful entrepreneur.

I'm just tired of it. Fallout may of been left leaning, but it never shoved it's philosophy down your throat. Got to love the conversations you can have in that game (and Fallout 2). Almost no modern game gives you those options anymore.

I would like to hear your opinion on Poland specifically. I used to think it was more safe from Western European countries like France and the UK, partially due to the fact it was east of the Berlin Wall, which was a big part of the Iron Curtain. These days I hear nothing but the same slop I hear here in the States regarding liberal mindsets in Poland.

@@KratostheThird Well you asked, so here's a blogpost. I'm a bit indisposed, because we've had Wigilia dinner today, I ate too much as per, and my brain doesn't work anymore. Plus I've thrown my back out, and am on painkillers. Sure we have our share of typical crazy leftists. But for example, our government, who is very much liberal, just announced stricter border control. Yes. Stricter border control than the previous conservative govt. It was also our liberal govt that passed a law which allows Border Guard to use deadly force on the border against invaders. Something our conservatives never dared to do, because EU would get an aneurysm. EU got an aneurysm, and we got a new law. Pretty sweet deal all things considered. As for safety, I lived in France for a few years, so I have a direct comparison ready. Honhons my hate me for my opinion, but nobody likes them anyway, so who cares. Paris feels unsafe during the day. Warsaw or Kraków feel safe even at night :) Although there's been a police shooting in Kraków a few days ago, and it made national news, because it's that rare. The number of armed citizens is rising, while murder and gun violence is actually in decline after a spike two years ago(I wonder what happened 2 years ago hmmm... can't have anything to do with a certain neighboring country being invaded). According to the statistics I can find the average number of homicides/attempted homicides where a firearm is used is about 20 per year. And of course, majority of those are done with illegally owned weapons. A gun license is easy to get in Poland, and we want it to stay that way :) On the other hand France has this cool little term "ensauvagement" which means that their society is turning rabid, and you can't even legally carry a telescopic baton, because there's a permit for that, and that permit is only issued to security guards. A knife in your pocket can get you arrested there. All things considered a Polish liberal on average is a bit different from a French or American leftist. I know plenty of liberals who don't mind guns, are practicing Catholics, and are very much against illegal and uncontrolled immigration. It's just the rich leftists who don't mix with the plebs, that hold Western liberal views, and call for complete destruction of society as we know it. We have it pretty good here, come visit anytime, merry Christmas.

Video game design has been slowly going down the drain for more than just the last few years. You could trace it back to the 2000s, and I would argue that Mass Effect (2007) is one of the best examples because it features, if you pay close attention, examples of modern liberal slop in its lore and worldbuilding. It only got worse as writing went on. Deus Ex, otherwise having been built up as a literal conspiracy simulator, suddenly became a political commentary series that, while enjoyable to play, immediately began showing its writing flaws with Deus Ex: Human Revolution (2011) where the Illuminati mysteriously didn't want people hooked on augmentation technology for easy control, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (2015) with its weird Apartheid-esque social commentary about how augmented people are somehow different from normal people even though augmentations are just prosthetics, for the general public anyway. A lot of modern games are unbearably unplayable - from atrociously massive storage and system requirements while coming as unfinished products with little to no optimization, all the way down to either garbage or nonexistent storytelling. But it has been a trend for a long time, and DEI isn't a new phenomenon, just that it had been fairly recently (2016-ish is when I first heard it) formally organized on the public scene via cooperation by governments and massive companies like BlackRock, Vanguard, State Street and others that hold tens of trillions of dollars under their management. And just like you said: it's only going to get worse before it gets better. Trump's election isn't going to change anything, because even his cabinet picks, like Ramaswamy and Musk, want to expand DEI, but to primarily "help" Indians, specifically, under the guise of "bringing the best and brightest from the rest of the world to America", which is a falsehood and they got called out on Twitter for it recently.

@@DoctorLifeMD There was a time when liberals could in more ways than one, make engaging content. Fallout 1 & 2 are what many people consider left leaning games with a little propaganda. But they were subtle enough to not be apparent. Also, the writers threw in some edgy commentary, such as when you encounter a certain Enclave soldier while you're at an old power plant that runs by the Ghouls. Today, there is none of that anymore. It's not just gaming either, it's our entire western society. Comedy Central used to have great stuff back in the late 90's and early 2000's. Now I don't even bother with most cable nor subscription services because they just shove the same SJW trash over and over. If it's not feminist, then it's why White people are bad and why other races are necessary for western civilization. As someone else said, our entire tech industry is in trouble because it's now controlled by monopolistic interests and big business. Silicon Valley won't do anything, look at how Adobe has gone downhill over the past 10 - 15 years. All Donald can do at the White House is talk, and try to slow the decay. He can do nothing else.

The thing about army games and the FPS genre tend was they at least usually had the message of being about the dangers of political corruption and current day events. Even the call of duties and big named FPS games of the time were anti war with some exceptions here and there. Scarily enough, they’ve become extremely relevant again because of the people who originally wanted them gone becoming more violent and dangerous than video games ever were. History’s mistakes are being repeated, nothing was learned and as a result, people are turning to the Xbox 360 and other games like it as counter culture. I’ve been making a game like that myself since I’d known about what was happening since about 2017 and instead of twiddling my thumbs and hoping the problem went away, I decided to do something about it. I’d rather be the change in the world I want to see. I hope I can do something to dig that genre out of its grave and give something for the people to believe in. After all, I’ll never forget when I was told how every journey starts with a single step. It’s been clear that no one’s going to save us. So it’s time to save ourselves.

That’s the messed up part about the Xbox One and PS4, they had merits to some of the games on them but overall were just average but attempted to compensate with graphics or whatever low level they’ve currently allowed themselves to become now with “modern gaming audiences.” It’s extremely offensive to hear and see that they won’t make fun games because of their extreme and excessive abuse that’s straight up from a filthy Frank video where the whole point is that he’s a character who reacts and behaves excessively to everything to show how bad things are as a joke, while offering criticism as to how it should be handled better. If that guy didn’t leave for music, he’d have been a great game reviewer I’d imagine.
@3ofSpadesАй бұрын
But I’m smart enough to know not to repeat their mistakes. I’ll take what they failed to make over there at Xbox during the Xbox one generation and take back what they stole from us. Their work from a technical and art standpoint around 2013-2019 is exceptional despite such average to mediocre games, but with the stupid online restrictions and usual exclusivity nonsense they couldn’t even pretend to take seriously, that means there’s a gap to fix and an opportunity to make a difference. I’m gonna give it a shot. I won’t let the games I love die to abandonment.

the only thing that needs to be remade for a "modern audience" are the epics and mythologies of our ancestors; authors to consider; Melanie Karsak, Ramesh Menen, Rick Riordan, Stephen King. (and my mentioning of King wasn't an accident; after all, many of his works are very tangential retellings of the common fairy tale. See his Fairy Tale.) Technology...while it does need to expand, and expanding tech is wonderful, my problem with tech expanding and advancing...it's expanding and advancing in the completely wrong way; moving away from rather than toward, the user. "Cloud" services supposedly "protecting"user's data, and so on. I could go on all day. Jody,it's 2024, I'm 35, I'm a spiritual, technical, yet still somewhat conservative. I suspect the thing you are referring to is organizational inertia of some industries. Let's say in this case, that would be the inability to adapt to the environment, sloppy products that are staining the market to take it or leave it (even if not much alternatives exists). Sticking that to particular ideologies though seems irrelevant to me. It's not "wokists" or whatever you call them that shove the so much dreaded "wokism" into your product. It's marketers and leadership gurus who heard from somewhere that is the next big thing, so they repeat it like parrots without even caring what it's about.
