@@sinner2499 It implies that he thinks he's incapable of taking Hikaru on in his current state, and that he'd have to wait until Hikaru is no longer playing before he can stand a chance of winning. @Richard05032 ай бұрын
@@zepeterinma IMHO, the first poster wasn’t literally saying Tyson can’t walk now; they were drawing a comparison. It would be like bragging about beating Tyson in a fight only when he’s so far past his prime that he physically can’t compete anymore, like when he can’t walk. The point is that it’s not impressive to make claims about beating a legendary figure when they’re no longer at their best. This fits perfectly with Hans Niemann’s comments about Hikaru-he’s suggesting that bragging about beating Hikaru when he’s close to retirement doesn’t hold much weight, just like beating an out-of-prime Tyson wouldn’t. I will be super interested to see how Tyson gets on - he's such a legend and, like you said, he has done an awesome job of getting into shape. Do you think he will beat Jake?
@zepeterinma2 ай бұрын
@@Richard0503 I think theres about a 70% chance he will beat Jake. Boxing is a strange sport and upsets can happen so we cant discount anything. I do think that his experience and current condition should be enough to give him an edge over Jakes size advantage. I do see your point though and sort of feel the same way with Hans and Hikaru, like I beat a national master in USCF rated chess but I cant really brag that I beat a national master because hes now in his 70s and is no longer at a master rating, only between 2000-2100. down from his 2350 peak. Another good parallel is when Kasparov came back to play a tournament and got last place I think 2 years ago. Just because hes the second best chess player of all time, people cant really be that proud that they beat him in his current state. I do wonder if he could get into semi-competitive state again with enough effort. I know Anand for example is retired but can still have absolutely monstrous performances even these days. Once a cheater always a cheater, the fact that a fraudster is allowed to play with the players who follow the rules is a big mistake. If there's no punishment for cheating, the risk/reward shifts and it encourages more people to try and do the same. Magnus was right not to play against him, the rest of the players should do the same.

Now he will have to live with that for the rest of his life.

@@someoneelse293 That reasoning would apply to other cheaters as well. So no punishment for cheaters, because the might use it for bragging and we might miss out on a genius. But even if he broke every record, destroys Magnus every time they play, he will still not be fully respected as a person, because of how he treats and talks to others. He is 21 with a bigger ego than players that have dominated for years. He cant get through a conversation without saying "the truth/reality is" or insulting someone while bragging how great he is.
