Not officially. The Devil's Gift is an "original" story of which New York Times said in it's 1984 review, "This bargain-basement time-waster plagiarizes most of its premise from the Stephen King short story "The Monkey" then does it further injustice by going virtually nowhere with the concept."

Osgood Perkins, who turns his nose up at James Wan’s Insidious films, covers Final Destination as a James Wan production, and I’m not even a little mad. This looks fun.

Same! She is always giving so much any time she's on screen - even in her more subtle performances she always makes interesting choices. And that shot at 1:06 of her screaming with her eye bleeding is FIRE! I can't wait to see what she does with this movie - and her next Osgood Perkins collaboration after this one, Keeper, which she is also executive producing.

There are so many good stories from Kings Night Shift that could be made into films outside of the 80s b movies they produced. They need to lean into that novel more.
@sawhk334Ай бұрын
I've never read that one. By the way, what stories would you like to watch transformed into a movie?
@brandonbushey7012Ай бұрын
@@sawhk334 I am the doorway and Jerusalem’s lot. All the stories are pretty good, little filler. They’ve manufactured graveyard shift, children of the corn, the mangler, trucks (maximum overdrive), sometimes they come back and the lawnmower man (title only, film had no source material from the story). Most of the films were bastardized from the novel. They’re cult classics, still a guilty pleasure, but all the stories mentioned are much bleaker and scarier in original form. A top King novel that stands the test of time.
@MrAtom55Ай бұрын
To clarify anyone wanting to read, "The Monkey", it's collected in "Skeleton Crew", not "Night Shift". But yes, more stories from the Night Shift collection that aren't hacky crap would be great.

my biggest question is why is he just casually looking at a burning baby crib?
@4no3bo3dyАй бұрын
Most likely this is towards the third act of the movie, when the monkey curse’s influence has spread throughout the neighborhood or even town, and the MC / the audience is treated to a tableau of horrible deaths happening simultaneously as he drives to wherever the Monkey is located to attempt to destroy or get rid of it. MC is probably numb from the shock of initial deaths witnessed firsthand, as well as from the dozens of deaths he’s seeing along this drive through hell on earth, so the burning baby stroller is just one of many terrible sights. He’s passed terror into dumbstruck awe.
