Man I like how a lot of these people are here because of school. I'm just here because I like the concept of it, it's really interesting and I feel like it'd be more enjoyable for most viewers if they weren't doing this for an English assignment. I'm not hating on anyone because they are doing this just for school, but I just feel like more people will enjoy learning about this concept of they actually had an interest in the consequences of wishing.

We read this in school around 1970. I’ll never forget the conversation that took place concerning the teacher asking, “Who was at the door?” One of the smartest students (among around 300 total in our grade) said, “The monkey.” The teacher asked, “What monkey?” The girl then said she had read the story three times and concluded it was the monkey coming back to get its paw. On on hand I felt good about knowing the real answer but, felt even better about knowing what the girl erringly thought it meant and the teacher being totally clueless about her answer.

Back in the early 70s, I remember one of my teachers read this story to the class during recess. I was about 10 or 11 years old. As much as I enjoyed the story, it made my blood run cold. One of the scariest short stories ever, but also one of my favorites.
@Gladius7147 жыл бұрын
This is cool and all but they shouldn't have shown the corpse of the son walking outside, because that needs to be ambiguous. Part of the reason this story is so scary is that we, as the audience, don't know whether the paw really is granting wishes or maybe it is all a coincidence.
@makmoncman87206 жыл бұрын

The story drops hints that it isnt a coincidence, such as the graveyard being two miles away, the knocking being stopped the second the father made his third wish, its only mr white that tries to excuse these events as coincidence but by the end he knew it was real otherwise he wouldnt have made that third wish
@guilhermeferrao59684 жыл бұрын
@@FimbongBass There is a difference between intellectually knowing something and instinctually believing it. While we may think something makes sense, sometimes our brains choose to believe something else anyway simply because it is easier - more comfortable - to do so. Mr. White, for example, probably knew the Monkey's Paw was actually effective, but did not want to believe it because it's so much easier to attribute the death of his son to coincidence. Otherwise, he'll constantly blame himself for the death of his son. He is, one can say, in a state of denial.

I remember my fifth grade teacher telling me this tale over twenty years ago and I never forgot it. This is the first time I've seen a film adaptation of it and I think this is very good. Only a few things were off; the Whites were an elderly couple with an adult son and I think the actors playing them were a bit young for the part. And Mr. White asked for 200 pounds, not 300 :) And although the story never did say the price for the third wish, I believe it might be Mrs. White dying of grief.

Okay, so I've read this story ik my elder sister's book and not only that but the summary by her, the summary of the book, anywhere and the whole story and watched this with her eagerly. I loved this story, literature is indeed so damn good, and these stories don't even feel like we're studying them, it's just presented in an amazing manner. This short video is by far the best one for this story. Yeah, the actors weren't that great and the fainting scene was funny and the dead Herbert shouldn't have been shown but that's what tje imagination of the director and idk but I genuinely wanted to see how did Herbert looked like when he arrived in the night. But anyway, thankyou for making this short video story for the actual story. It's awesome.✨

I have been using the story The Monkey's Paw in my ESL classes for the last 5 years. Then I found your short film of it. You did an outstanding job in your treatment of the story and managed to scare the Hell out my students without reverting to stomach churning details like in the Saw franchise. You did it through great writng, production design, a wonderful sound score and fine acting from all concerned. You keep making them and I'll keep buying and/or watching them!
