The Monster Is Back, But It's Not Seiko ! (Monster Heimdallr Ocean Monster 2020)

Well I have finally got my hands on the Heimdallr Ocean Monster. As a Seiko Monster lover this would have to live up to some high standards and you know what it did. For the price and the spec, yet again Heimdallr have done it again. Don't get me wrong it is not a 1:1 copy there are some slight difference but all in all great watch. So sit back and have a watch ;)

Just got my Orange and Deep Blue and it just shows Heimdallr can make a Monster with sapphire, milled clasp, aligned bezels but Seiko won't.

All The designer credit must go to Seiko , but this is a very, very attractive proposition for under 200$. Seiko can't even complain, as it is no longer available from Seiko.

I was so blown away by the looks of this watch in this review, I had to order one. Perhaps I was silly and I went with the "olive". I can see most folks go with the red or blue. Nevertheless, I am pretty excited to get my hands on it. Considering what one has to pay for a true Seiko Monster, I decided it was "ok" to buy Heimdallr. It will be my first Chinese watch.

@@TheDevilmayfart It is shockingly good. I have had mine for about 4 weeks now. It is one of my least expensive watches, but the quality is astounding, so it gets a lot of wrist time! I will keep this watch. I am glad I chose the brown. Hope you like yours!

I'm currently looking at the Addiesdive Red alternative. Similar spec and price, but the red looks even deeper, darker. Nice review tho, when I buy I will shop between the Addiesdive, Heimdallr and Steeldive versions.

Bought the orange one from the UK supplier but also bought a tuna homage direct from Heimdallr. The Monster has upgrades over the Seiko original namely the sapphire Crystal, milled clasp and superior end links. Only slight flaws are the sharp edges where the bezel meets the case above the lugs especially in the crown guard below the crown. This can be gently filed down though! Great workhorse movement, good lume, better quality bracelet and nice bezel action. What’s not to like especially at the price point when a preowned Seiko original is gonna cost you mega bucks. Just go ahead and order one. You won’t be disappointed.

I could just buy this amazing piece of watch(which I actually just did) and along with it order an original Seiko monster dial, replace the dials, and have myself an even better version than the original Seiko monster, since they use a Seiko movement and a freaking sapphire, and all of this for 1/3 of the price! But the heimdallr's shark logo looks cool too, I like it and it fits the theme of the watch.

Great video, thanks. You mention that the crystal is flat - but it looks slightly domed in the video (as per the Seiko)? Also, can you test the crystal to confirm it's definitely sapphire? Cheers!

Thanks :) Heimdallr do describe it as a flat sapphire however it does seem to have a ever so slight dome to it. I can also confirm it is Sapphire, checked it myself with the tester :)

@@GrimwoodWatchModding Many thanks for confirming that: I sold my two Monsters a couple of years ago, but one of the things I'd loved about them was the domed crystal (didn't like that it was Hardlex though). There's something really legit about a Seiko homage watch using a Seiko movement, a bit like a Countach replica using a Lamborghini V12. Thanks again, all the best.

My orange one came in today, very very nice indeed. I have an 8 1/4" wrist on the left and I took off 1 link and moved to the 2nd micro location on the clasp. Same feel, a pussyhair tighter on my 8 1/2" right wrist.

This seems to be a case similar to the islander: a new improved version of an iconic Seiko watch. Better crystal, better bracelet, Cal. Seiko, not bad lume, same size. To buy it or not to buy it? Since a Monster Gen. 2 is being sold for $ 700 / $ 900 USD this may not be a bad obcion, plus it is a new watch, not a second hand. But it depends on each one. The purist would say no; the collector will try to buy the original, why not? It's beautiful! And a conscious buyer will look for a better deal, $ 500 less.

@@OmairArif Thats not good, one thing Heimdallr are good at though is there customer service :). Sounds like a sticking crown spring that. Had that happen with a few watches including Seiko. Can also be when the stem has been cut to the wrong length, thats normally on modded watches.

You are only prohibited to copy the name or logo. There are no laws against copying the design. This would cause too many lawsuits as all watches copy aspects of other watches as there are only so many variations and 100.000s or more different watches out there.
