The MOOD Mkii "NO-DUB" Mode in Full!!!

After many requests, here it is! The "NO DUB" mode in length :)
The MOOD Mkii from ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ has an awesome "No Dub" mode that transforms Micro-loop channel into a powerful live performance effect. By turning No Dub on, you can use this as a live effect!
I've been diving deep into No Dub mode and want to share some of the cool things I've found. The Micro-loop channel has ENV, TAPE, and STRETCH modes to alter your loop in different ways.
No Dub opens up so many options for manipulating sounds live. I'm having a blast tweaking knobs as I play to create evolving sounds. It's an amazing tool for guitarists and synth players. Anyone else using No Dub? Share how you're using it!

For me, this ended up being the only really usable application of the right side of the Mood Mk 2. Everything else was cool but quickly became a novelty. No Dub mode is fantastic though and makes it much easier to use in songs with a set tempo.

This is a great video! I've switched "No Dub" on a few times, but not with Latch. Definitely trying this. Do you have any advice or resources for getting the Disaster Area going with the Mood? I have the SMARTclock and mkii with the proprietary cable, but have yet to get it working.

Great question. I use the midi box 4 to convert to trs from the smart clock. You have the 5P-CBA cable? It should work 🤔

Midi in this case is sending a tap tempo to the Mood. The Mood is using a subdivision of that to adjust the timing of the effect. It’s a little harder to see than a pedal with a tap tempo, AND the “NO DUB” thing is very different on top of that. So the easiest answer is midi clock is tap tempo. I’m not sending any CC messages Hope that helps!

It works really well! It interacts the same as the normal “micro loop” side just more like a moving delay and not a loop.

How would you say the Mood mk ii compares to the Microcosm? Or is that more apples to oranges? Would it be worth having both?

My take on this is like comparing apples to oranges, but ALSO apples to apples. Here's what I mean. If you're looking at the Mood as a microlooper plus delay/reverb then yes, the Microcosm can do that, but they both can do so much more. The Mood has two independent sides that allow you to microloop and/or use wet effects. You can also pass audio back and forth between the sides. There's so much you can change on the Mood with the clock knob and dip switches that it packs so much to explore! However, you can't really think of it as a looper since there isn't much control over the microloops. The Microcosm is more like an organic/dynamic delay machine with reverb and modulation available. There are 44 different "delay" algorithms to choose from, and there's also a 60-sec looper. You can change effects being forward or reverse on the fly as well. I use the Microcosm as more of a think tank where I play into it and then see what it decides to spit out. It's very organic in that way, almost as if it's adapting to what you're doing as you're doing it. IF you can get both, then get both. If you have to choose one, then seeing as they're roughly the same price, choose the one that fits on your board. Or choose the parameter that you MUST have in one and go that route. Example, you need a controllable looper, then choose the Microcosm. If you want to be able to turn the reverb on or off independently of what else the pedal is doing, then choose the Mood. I see myself using either mostly at home for fun and recording, but it would be really cool to find ways to mix in such unique effects into a live context too. Thanks again, great video btw. Cheers!

I’m a big fan of syncing my delays and while both have that ability, the Microcosm has tap tempo on board (that can also send midi clock to your other midi based effects!) If you have a way to sync the Mood then it would be easier for live use. If not, my vote is the Microcosm to start.

NO DUB reduces the feedback of the micro loop channel to 0, making it a pseudo-live effect. The higher the clock knob, the closer the effect to your actual playing. Green indicates a micro loop is active, red means you’re in overdub mode. To make NO DUB work the way I use it, you also need the LATCH dip switch on too. Hope that helps!

@Zan_Halford pretty much! I like using NO DUB with midi clock so it’s in time with what I’m playing, dialing the resolution and lag time with the clock knob.

@@thepedalcollaborative, I have mine hooked to a Midibox. I only send midiclock initially for several pulses. When it’s not actively receiving further clock, would it be the same as a pedal not connected to midi clock? I hope this the case since I’d like the delay functions to work restricted to clock, but I’d also like the chance to have unsynced loop lengths.

@Zan_Halford as long as you keep midi plugged in it should maintain the tempo it last receiving from midi clock. You can set the MOOD to ignore midi clock or listen for it. Unfortunately that’s not per side, it’s the whole thing.

@@thepedalcollaborative I definitely agree. If I buy a pedal I want results to be reproducible and syncable with a band. I like my Fabrikat for the pseudo reverb stuff, though.
