I'm so glad every time I see someone growing their own. My daddy grew an acre garden every year. My parents only went to store for what they couldn't grow or harvest from nature. I just started. I haven’t gotten my first harvest yet, but I’m so excited to finally be on this journey. I’ve been planting everything around this house. Potatoes, celery, onions, squash, peppers.. lol I don’t know the best times & ways to plant everything, but trial & error is a great teacher. I’ll learn as I “grow”. Edit(5/6/24): I harvested some basil, green onion & chives last week. They’re growing back already. I also have some cherry tomatoes coming in!! 😁😁😁 it rained last week & I see how these plants thrive more with rain water. I have an old garbage can & bucket in my backyard that I set up to catch the rainwater. My next move is making my own compost. I absolutely love this journey! 💚

Yes sis, that's the spirit. Four years ago when I started saving and nursing some of the parts of Celery base, carrot 🥕, lettuce spring onion base meant to be thrown away, I was laughed at, but, they were all shocked after they springed up and transplanted them and natured them. Then, harvested from the spring onion and lettuce first of all and the following year, on their own, they all grew back. This year, I am presently nursing all kinds of plants waiting for a better weather to transplant them outside my new yard. So, bro is doing a very good job in this video as well. 😊

Honestly, speaking as someone who grew up in the city, a lot of people don’t realize you can grow your own fruits and vegetables in your backyard as easy as it is. Unfortunately, I live in Canada, so I can only grow in the spring/summer. I would love to live somewhere nice where you can grow all year round. Also, fruits and veggies are so expensive here, and the bunnies that roam around here love to eat the food you grow, so that’s another hurdle. But yes, it’s great to see him be so passionate and informative about growing your own food.

I bought kiddie pools 2 years at the end of summer for next to nothing, that I use for compost. Tomatoes, potatoes, and bell peppers started growing like magic, and still are. Now, I purposely throw seeds in the compost pools, then repot them because they germinate faster in the pools. Although the potato plants are gone, I keep digging up potatoes. I also have lemon plants, watermelon, herbs, strawberry plants, and a bunch of plants that I’m not sure what they are yet. I also fill the pools with water and sit my plants in them when I go out of town, so they don’t die while I’m gone.

I'm going on my third generation of wild wonder peppers and mini peppers. I bought the original peppers from the store . Kept the seeds dried them. Been growing them ever since. And it's free.

Natural compost is the best. It’s amazing and the plants know how to take the nutrients they need which give them energy to boost in size. Most farmers know that crop grows bigger every year.

I love how excited you are about your garden. I was raised with a garden. We ate everything. I see you have the room for a more organized garden. Use it. When a garden dies out, you replace it with other veggies.

Sweet potatoes can grow in boxes, and tomatoes can finish ripening in paper bags or flipped over on the vine laying on your kitchen counter... I garden in containers just like he shared here (from onions, potatoes and tomatoes from my fridge). And grow flowers in my yard.

I'm the same way lol. I have papaya, citrus, peppers, herbs, avocado, mango all kinds of goodies. I just plant any edible plant seed I come across. I had some Jack fruit & cherimoya before but I failed. I know how to now after figuring out what was wrong. Super easy fix.

May I ask how you fixed the jackfruit to help it grow? I would like to try to grow some as well. Thanks for your help.

@@iamtracywilson it for me, it just needed more humidity, same with the cherimoya. I'm not sure if they need more as babies or if they still need a lot when bigger too. I live in a pretty dry state so this might just be a problem in my area. My cherimoya died because I didn't have proper lighting & a grow area in the winter. That's after I found out it needed more humidity. My jackfruit basically done the same, except I just forgot to water it lol. At that time I had a grow room with good lighting. My mangos needed higher humidity until they got around a foot tall.

I had a beautiful big red pepper and a free flower pot full of compost... So I threw a few seeds in the pot and, just like him,I wanted to see what is going to happen... In no time I saw a lot of small pepper plants coming out. Once they grew I moved them in their own pot and I have fresh peppers since April ... They don't grow huge but they are big enough for cooking or for a salad....

I pulled my tomatoes and peppers out before the first freeze last fall and put them in an indoor grow tent. We had cherry tomatoes and green peppers all winter. I took some of the branches off the tomatoes and put them into containers and now have 10 more plants for the garden this summer. I love gardening!

I haven't mown in over 6½ years. All the turf grass is pretty much gone and replaced with native ground covers and cluster grasses. Then theres loads of other stuff I'm not typing out buyt theres so much life now, since theres food and hiding places for the micro life that moves up the food chain. Bats, 3 ty0es pf snakes, 2 hawk species, 1 barred owl, 2 woodpeckers, an armadillo family, tarantulas, a fat possum thats almost tame and an occasional fox will roam through, IN TOWN. Neighbors can't say a word because its all blocked off with growth. 😊 Love this dudes energy.

Amen! I’ve been doing that too! Started with some tomatillos and they have gotten so big. Then threw some cantaloupe seeds out and they practically all have sprouted and now ate send out their tendrils. I planted some romas from seed along with some jalapeño and sweet peppers from kitchen leftovers as well. Prepared the papaya seeds today. I’m so happy!

I did the same thing with some cherry tomatoes. Just took 6 seeds and planted them on a whim. They all germinated. Did the same with blueberries (as long as they haven’t come from another country because they’ll be sterilized).
