The gas tank seems to be embedded in the frame. Would butt landing have a potential to crack the tank?
@AnthonyVella4 жыл бұрын
Great question. My guess is “absolutely not!” Haha. Seriously, I jokingly drove over it with my 1000lbs Polaris Sportsman, and it was unaffected! Remember, all those swing arms are doing (with respect to the frame) is holding up the motor/fuel, which is not that heavy... what, 60 lbs? You could pull 3 G's and that's less than 100 lbs of force on each side. I'd like to see the details on the aluminum cross-bar though. It would be best if it was just one piece... but probably at significant additional expense.

Both swing arms are mounted into a metal bracket that runs across the back of the unit. It’s a lot easier to understand when you see it. @AnthonyVella3 жыл бұрын
You bet. As you may know, I own both. I've never personally heard of there being a concern with the torque on the Defiant. Perhaps someone out there has said something about it, but I've never heard of an owner complain about it. I never thought there was an issue with the Maverick in regards to torque either. That said, Gravity slightly offset the motor in the mounting to compensate for the effect torque has; Perhaps that is why I never noticed it. If someone STILL wanted more torque control, the adjustable swing arms can be set further out on one side to further compensate for any additional torque. I never did, because I never had an issue with it.

@AnthonyVella3 жыл бұрын
@@davidbrewster9743 Same. I am a research nut! I was that way when I bought the Maverick as well. For me, the increased thrust of the Defiant was what made me switch. Not that the Maverick was necessarily lacking, but the 130cm on the Defiant gave me an additional 15% thrust over the standard 125cm which made me feel safer. I personally LOVE flying low where I can appreciation all of the details in the landscape; However, low flying occasionally has me in situations where I want to climb as quickly as possible. For example: I like to cruise low along the mountains. With the added thrust, I can skirt the side of it more confidently because I can always climb out should I encounter sinking air. Same can be said when flying in the flat lands. And in spite of have hundreds of hours on a paramotor now, I do bump the hoop section every now and then (albeit, I've gotten better). The issue with the Mavericks titanium hoop is that it's very malleable compared to the aluminum hoop on my Defiant. When it bends, its extremely challenging to restore it to its original shape. Lastly, the netting. THAT was a heart ache. Everyone who owns a Maverick is (or will become) familiar with how weak the netting is. I replaced mine 4-5 times. They retail for around $500 USD. Parajet's biggest dealer knew of this problem, suggested a heftier net, but was told they wouldn't change it because it would eat into their profit margin. And the plastic hoop section of it scratches very easily. That said, I still really like the Maverick! It's just not as durable as they'd want you to think that it is. A better alternative for a light weight pararmotor might be Fly Products "Eclipse", but that would be outfitted with a 125cm prop and an Atom 80 to really get the weight down. All things considered, I opted for the Defiant and I am really glad that I did.

@@AnthonyVella That's not too bad at all! It does look tough as hell. And I imagine having the fuel tank conforming to your body like that would make it feel super light too - even with 5 gallons of gas in it. If I could plop on my nitro and harness, I think Id sell a kidney for it.
@ryandinan4 жыл бұрын
Also curious about whether or not you can order this sans the motor, and be able to put on, say, a Nitro 200?
@AnthonyVella4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... from the looks of it, they only offer Vittorazi products. Do you have a preference for Nitro engines?

How do attach that to a rack for transporting?
@AnthonyVella4 жыл бұрын
From what I have heard, Gravity will have a way to transport this on a rack using an attachment that goes on the base of the tank.

You should get that Anthony. This rack is too nice to give you back.

How do you know its so great when you have a demo and not the production model? And where is the rest of the paramotor?
@AnthonyVella4 жыл бұрын
My excitement in the product is strictly because of the low cost of the unit, durability, and the fact that it’s veteran owned. I love Scout and Parajet as well. I think they look awesome! I don’t care who you are; they ALL fly the same. This Gravity Paramotor will likely be a paramotor just like the rest of them. But if I can pay $5500 rather than $8500 I’ll be a hell of a lot less torn inside trying to figure out why these things cost so damn much. It’s funny. People saying how can you be excited... I’ve flown so many units. Screw the frame aside from the durability (that I mentioned in the video); The feeling of flight on the paramotors has very little to do with the frame and has everything to do with the glider. The motor is simply the means of staying aloft with a paraglider.

Maybe you can do a video on the production model when you get it so you can do proper testing 👍i am a vet and so is my Dad, happy to see another veteran owned business 👍

@@chrisstearns10 Thank you for your service. And your dad as well! In response to "where is the rest of the paramotor, they final components are still being developed. This display model gives people an impression on what the final version will look like (minus the harness and motor of course).

Many of the functions on that frame wont last long at all! To use aluminium to make the bushings for the width adjustmnet of the swing arms is one of the worst decisions and it wont work as expected in the long run! The tank acting as a stand is also prone to be broken shorrtly. However i am sure it flies great due to the placement of the tank.

It's seems to be functional, but id say the compromise is cosmetically. I love the way my Maverick looks, I like that it's built out of strong Titanium, and it's only 56lbs dry. Do I like the way this Gravity frame looks? Not really. Great video!

The Maverick is great looking! I like the standard blue color. The standard tank looks nice on it too.

Nice unit! I wonder how long that beautiful gas tank will stay white and healthy.
