I had a 70 mile trip months ago. 10 miles away from the drop off at 2am he added a stop two miles from the drop off and Uber lowered my fare by 5 dollars. Actually lowered it for adding a stop.

Most annoying: we are private contractors. We accept an upfront fare (a contract) then Uber and passenger change the contract, by changing destination or adding a stop. We aren't even part of the negotiations on the new pay.

If we were paid appropriately and had 100% transparency(meaning a full itemized breakdown of the trip) none of this would be a real issue. The only time it's OK to fill up during a trip is when you've worked 8 to 10 hrs and they send you a long trip and you'll need the gas to complete it. If someone wants to add a stop, I ask them to add the stop to the app because the insurance company needs to see why we made a stop, not on the itinerary. Remember this is YOUR Business and that you're not Ubers employee.

I never ever let them leave an anchor, EVER. "Sorry, but it's against Uber's policy to leave items unattended in the car" also consider the implications if they have illicit items in there and you get pulled over or if they make a fictional claim that you stole something just to name a few.

Rider's have gotten more savvy with the added trip stops for sure, because the drivers have wised up to not accept. They modify after acceptance. Imagine driving 15 minutes to a stop, added stop 5 mins away to take them back home. Which essentially was a round trip for pennies. Because you truly only get paid from the pickup to the destination. An additional example: Picked up two young ladies to go to the beauty supply store. Asked the rider if she specifically knew what she needed. Because the wait time is only five minutes. She assured me yes. Watch 2 cars pull up on either sides of me, go in and get what they needed and came right out. I gave her an additional 2 minutes and then messaged her that the ride was getting canceled. She sent the other young lady outside to wait in the car and announced to me that she was at the checkup counter. As you indicated in your video using the young lady as "an anchor". Most of my experiences are good. The pay is just not compensatory. However, my other last round trip added the stop once they got to the destination realized they had to order another Uber (replacing lost phone charger, were in town on business), the stop was quick and he tipped me $20 in the app 😊

Gryft has ENDLESS $2.12 and $3.15 trips. Minimum pay for a ride should be $4. $2-3 is an insult!

And parents ordering a ride for their unaccompanied minor children. "We do this all the time. Why is it suddenly a problem now?" - every time. I tell them I'm willing to wait if they will go get their carseat, or if someone is willing to bring one for them. If they refuse, I wait for the timer to run out so I get a cancel fee or until the rider cancels the ride. By doing this, I make sure the ride appears in my trip history and I can then report them immediately. Sometimes getting ride requests from them 2-3 more times back to back. Reporting all of them.

Another whack thing is, for example, here in Phoenix one of the busiest parts of the city on the weekends is Old Town Scottsdale and it never has surge. Like never. At 2am everyone and their brother is requesting but you're lucky to get a $1 surge but usually it's the grey cloud of BS. Uber and Lyft need to be looked at for being unethical towards drivers because this is horseshit what they do to drivers now.

I've had cases where adding a stop actually reduced the pay I was told in the upfront fare. They charged the passenger $10-18 extra but then reduced my pay $2-4 because then it goes to a "rate card" which doesn't include reimbursement on the way to the passenger. How does that even make sense

Imagine uber not being so stuck up and deciding to deam me unfit to drive for then and I can still drive for Lyft Lyft is a 10/10 company their customer service and driver support is 20/10 versus Ubers driver support being a 0/10 for them not caring but making over 100 billion dollars in profit it’s just bull I can’t stand them but drive still for Lyft just was accused of driving under the influence by a rider so the suspended my drivers account and I called explained the situation of how at that point I had 11 rides and if it was more than one rider I could understand the hold and careful consideration but there are too many riders that lie and don’t care about the consequences that they cause so in turn people like that I will not be providing anymore rides to in the future because as much as I wanted to be intoxicated I hold safety first and foremost I care too much for my riders to be driving under the influence but that being said it is 0252 EST I’m signing off and going to bed and I am going to enjoy a cold one in the safety of my house love y’all do better and support the one company that deserves all the respect and that is Lyft

New uber eats glitch. Had an order from 1 restaurant. It thought i wasnt on the way so it gave me the notification that u are not on the way. But I was just stuck in traffic. I get an add-on double and one from the same restaurant i was going to anyway. 2 mins away the first order was removed and the second order for the same restaurant was removed as well. When i only accepted the double about 5 mins away from that same store. Wtf is that. Customer didn't cancel.

I only allow 4 passengers in my car 1 per seat belt, people always ask especially college students we could cram together I always tell them I can’t It’s about the liability for me, if something happens I’m sure your parents aren’t gonna care how cool I was being they’re gonna sue me for allowing a passenger to ride without a seat belt and when someone wants to add a fast food stop i let them know I don’t do fast food stops if they argue and say but you’re being paid for it, I respond with yes but not enough to be worth my time and I personally don’t do food stops, I wouldn’t of accepted the ride if it had a fast food stop, so sorry lol

Never, ever take 5 pax for X unless they have $20 cash/venmo and it's a short ride under 10 min. If longer make it $30 or more Most pax are cheap asses and will get out when you tell them your extra fee and the legal liability if someone hits you.

Yes, that is true. It’s happened a lot to me riders requesting ride and when they’re getting in the Uber like one minute or two minutes into the drive there are multiple stops on Uber is charging paying you $.31 per minutes also on reservation trips. Stop are add on reservation trips drivers not getting paid for stops on wait time on reservation trips. The fear already calculated in the reservation trips. We have to remove save and wait time and promotions must go

I got transferred today by Support to about five different people with the same accent asking the same verification questions, each before asking to put me on hold and then telling I have to speak with someone else. I finally just went to the Greenlight Hub in LA and spoke with someone in person who handled it in about five minutes of her time. Yes, I had to wait over 30 min to speak to her, but I got what I needed. Stephanie is awesome.

Can only press OK While waiting at the light And yeah I had someone add another stop for another passenger for 15 miles away (I thought it was just a quick ride) Also had 5 guys trying to convince me to come in my car which I had to deny And one lady had me drive all the way to her place to tell me in person that she didn’t need the ride and made me cancel it (which upped my cancellation rate) Etc etc

my market has a ski area - I set my preference for an area that does not include the ski basin road because it requires 4wd, typically has a 40 min to an hour traffic wait time - riders request a short ride in downtown area and then change the destination or add a stop to include the ski area. I refuse to drive them and drop them at the shuttle stop -

Yeah...as soon as it switched from 5 to 7 minutes, I completely changed my waiting time policy...bf I would give them the full 5 (or maybe I would cancel after a few if their was red flag, or continous issue). But I would just wait usually. After it went to 7, I said I will wait between 2 and 4 minutes based on circumstances. The only ppl i wait for 7 minutes are dormitories (i work a college town), who sometimes take longer bc they have to take elevators, but I'm fine waiting bc they're college students and always a safe/efficient ride.

@luisito1273 Great question. In San Diego, California, any driver that has a TCP number on the back bumper could possibly add your vehicle to their fleet . Most Black SUVs have this setup. It is an expensive lane! These black SUVs get overwhelmed during special events and holidays! You have to talk to the business owner. Many drivers do not know this.

@ it has to work because you work for yourself and if you have to finish a ride and you need to go home for something you have the right to stop any new request next time when you get someone in your car for pick up just scroll up and you will see at the bottom of your phone stop new request/ lift is last ride and that’s it. you have to start your trip it won’t work if you are waiting for them to come out to your car!

It happened to me today. I picked up a rider in Gurnee, IL at the mall and while exiting the parking lot before the stop light he added a stop at Chipotle across the street. Of course he left his belongings in my car and I waited for him until he put the order and got back. He was "rewarded" with 1 star from be for being such a nice rider. :)

Great comments everyone! My most annoying issue overall is being distracted by the games and nonsense the app throws at us while driving. Not so long ago, we’d get an offer and could accept the offer because our working partner encouraged an environment of incentives, now, we have to consider how we’re being screwed with every offer….Good Will by Uber “shot”.

Besides low pay, 1) Pax not in the car within 2 min of arriving... 1 min if it takes 5 + min to get there 2) Pax using GPS for pickup location instead of address Adding stops is not an issue at all for me as I confirm the destination before driving off. If they add a stop during the trip I just tell them "Sorry, I can drive you to the original destination but I don't do stops because Uber doesn't pay us." If they argue I just tell them "Sorry, but I would never have accepted this trip had you entered both locations when you ordered the ride. Please include stops before ordering the ride."

If they preform this prior to your arrival but while on route. Cancel immediately selection destination changed as a lyft driver and move on. If they're in the vehicle. Tell the passenger that is not an option that you offer. Inform them that they can drop you here. You can drop them at their stop. Or you can drop them at their final destination. At the end of the ride. Rate them poorly so you don't have to get in touch with a careless passenger and move on. I agree that lyft and uber should make a secondary and third option to any change. Accept, No, Yes but only if you a you hold rideshare insurance privately. And b the amount extra you demand for the additional. Which needs to be additionally process but not taken from by the platforms.
