8:50 Toby's whole plane weighs about the same as Mark Patey's engine with the same HP.

As cool as Draco was I had to think that it kind of killed the competition's sprit. It's kind of hard to compete for 2nd place. I can see a guy on his downwind and he sees a big red plane. He just says 'Oh, well' and just maintains heading to the horizon. Can't wait to see what Scrappy will do.
@HakureiReimuOfficial3 жыл бұрын
@@longshot7601 you know they said Mark Patey, not Mike. Draco was Mike's and I hardly think it killed competition, as it motivated and continues to motivate people to go beyond with their own planes. And yeah, Mark's the other brother, with other planes.
@Halli503 жыл бұрын
The thing about squeezing a lot of power out of a tiny engine is that you have to overhaul it every few hundred hours. I don't know about Mark Patey's engine, but the PT-6 his brother Mike used in the Draco typically have TBO's in the thousands of hours range, longer with proper trend monitoring.
@nzsaltflatsracer80543 жыл бұрын
@@Halli50 Which ever brother it is, I'm talking about the lump of IO-720 engine. I have one of those dinosaur monsters & they're also worth a monstrous amount of money.

@bluehornet67522 жыл бұрын
I've flown a 175 with that engine conversion--in fact I did the last flight with the GO-300, and the first flight with the O-470. With a fixed stabilizer (vs the C-180's stabilator system), you'll run out of nose-up trim if you're not careful. So it's great to see him so CG-conscious, because that thing will bite you if you're not. Great performance though.
