Part of why I think that Dantioch works for a lot of people is that while he does have a lot of Iron Warrior traits he isn't always defined by those traits such as the fact that he is actually friends with an Imperial Fist. There is also the fact that while he is super loyal he isn't blinded by that loyalty and is willing to turn against those he feels are in the wrong. Regarding the Silver Skulls I do personally think that while loyalists Chapters from traitor geneseed is a good premise for a story it needs to be handled with care both so that the chapter has identity beyond just being traitor legion but loyal but also so that it is clear that not every loyalist chapter that has traits similar to traitor legions has a genetic link to that legion. Chapters being very different from their parent legion is interesting to me and makes the setting more varied rather then everybody needing to be a carbon copy of their parent. That being said I do think that the Silver Skulls are different enough from the Iron Warriors that there being a genetic link between them would enhance the story rather then take away from the Skulls.

Kind of like ‘nature vs nurture’ idea? Even though they have Perry’s geneseed, generations of being with the ultramarines have turned them into a Jack of all trades, but with that Perturabo gene still there, they should be a very no none-sense type of ultramarine, with a passive specialization on endurance and defensive warfare. I’m not a warhammer know it all, I’m just learning about this type of stuff

My silver skull theory is that the surviving loyalists iron warriors had their traitor geneseed removed and replaced with ultramarine geneseed and then they were founded as the Silver Skulls, making them both iron warriors but genetically be ultramarines

Would be nice if it was blended, you might get a workaholic who loves micro-macro manage the logistical aspects, or you might get the equivalent of a meth gear but instead of stealing converters off of cars, he just, builds fortifications, who knows?

Barabas Dantioch is so badass, that I think only Garro can even come close to rivaling him among the 30k Loyalists from Traitor Legions. And if the Silver Skulls aren't at least partly descended from his men (wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a "Oh we're a Chimeric chapter" and made them a mix of Iron Warrior and Ultramarine), then the Blood Ravens aren't secretly Thousand Sons successors.

All pertty wanted was to not be treated badly and to have some sort of positive reinforcement but was always denied. He didnt want much hence why he also acted the way he did. Being denied even the smallest of things at every possiblity is noy something you can cope with.

Ok the iron warrior's didnt have trouble keeping the imperial fists away from there fortress, they wanted them to make it after getting stomped on just to make them realize they did all that for nothing. Pertty on the other hand had all the no discipline idiots to work with and got pretty far till he just got so fed up with his idiot team he just left

13:55 Perturabo is one of my favourites. Sure he’s a bit miserable but he’s the first traitor that I think could realistically come back to the imperium, or at least break off from the ruinous powers and team up with Vashtor to go ‘true neutral’ and whoop the black legion. I could be biased though as an iron warriors / Minotaurs player and I do usually have a preference for the villains in fiction (except the Demonculaba because f*#k that). Has General Bradley done a video on the Minotaurs yet?

Purtorabo sadly isnt a well written character. On his first meeting with Emperor he instinctively knew this was his father and he was afraid, afraid that his father would be cruel, unloving and use him just like his adopted father. And yet he became exactly the kind of father he feared the Emperor would be. Purtorabo never thanked his sons, no matter how much they suffered because he expected them to die for him if he commanded And yet he's broken over the fact that Emperor gives him thankless jobs He's a hypocrite His character could have benefitted SO MUCH if he wasn't a hypocrite. If his mentality was, "If my father sends to die, then ill die. Because i too am a father and i expect nothing less from my sons" That would be so cool But despite all of that, Purtorabo is still better written than Ferrus Manus.

The Silver Skulls are 100% pure Iron Warrior geneseed they just gotta be. Dantioch ALONE proves that as long as they are within the Imperium, they are LOYALIST sons through and through, Perty was the corrupting factor in them not his truly stoic sons their loyalty to Peter Turbo Dad was their downfall. I ain't even an Iron Warrior fan, I just am annoyed at the actual potential that was lost within them thanks to cringe daddy issue Perty. BUT I do see from a story perspective anyway that the lost potential of the Iron Warriors is possibly deliberate. The comparison of Dorn and Perty, and who Horus ACTUALLY wanted over the two is poignant and a huge part in why Perty acts the way he does. He knows his fortresses are weaker than Dorns. He knows he himself is weaker than Dorn. He knows Horus would rather Dorn and his men than the Iron Warriors. All of that culminates in Perty fucking hating both the loyalists cus of Dorn, and the traitors funnily cus of Dorn again when if he just strived to improve over Dorn and not resent him for being the better of them he could have been an absolute CHAD cus bettering Dorn takes some WILLPOWER and sadly Perty ironically lacked an iron will. He was a man of inadequacies and he *hated* that. And weirdly I *like* that about Perty, I like that I don't like what he became, considering Chaos and its double edged meaning of 'power' its pretty good writing. I only just came to this conclusion thanks to Chadas Chadioch too. The constant parallels in Perty with what him and Dorn could of been had he not constantly suffered from feelings of inadequacy but took a more friendly rivalry approach to their relationship which of course would be the same relationship Dantioch and Pollux had initially. Its an extremely complex long winded tale on feelings of bitter jealously and inadequate thoughts being a driving motivator to your own downfall. Mega rant there about my sudden realisation that Peter Turbo might actually be pretty cool. The tragic villain I guess?
