Hey guys. Another great video. We love living vicariously through your Caribbean adventure. Looking forward to hearing your interview with Andy and Mia. Great Podcast. Always good stuff. Your batteries might be at the end of their life. 3 years is not too bad for the number of cycles and partial discharges of the cruisers life. Please make a small video of your battery swap when you get to that point. I am a boat geek and love to watch boat repairs in exotic locations. You might try to equalize (condition) the batteries once to see if they bounce back a little but you will need to be on shore power for a few days to get that done. Good luck in your travels. Your videos always make our week. Thanks

No matter where you go or how many times someone else has made a video of a place - you always make it interesting with better shots (the drone footage has been great), better commentary, video, music, editing, and off the beaten path side trips. Just a pleasure to watch these - even if I'm 4 months late. Cheers, guys. Safe travels.

Hi guys! Just wanted to tell you that I watched all of your videos in less than two weeks, and they are really something special. You are so easy going, relaxed and interesting. Videos are great, but honestly you are the reason I started watching. Two people who refuse to live lives like most of us do and to top that is that you are sailing! Probably the best way to live ( in my opinion ). Sailing makes you look at life a little different. It really is inspiring to see you enjoy your lives the way you do! So best wishes and good winds from Zagreb,Croatia!

Try to not let the batteries go below 50% before fully charging them (or keep them up full via adding more solar etc) and always do battery maintenance to the max. Always monitor battery usage and turn off ALL unused electrical equipment like things you leave plugged in, unplug or turn off via a switch or remote switch... Last case, turn on engine to rapid charge. And of course, read the manual for everything, the autopilot can be put into power saver mode ie: less sensitive = less use = less power. Oh the other hand, it is always good to practice hand steering and give the autopilot a break. Nothing from the solar panel? LOL, try turning it / them up towards the sky / sun. Again, test with an volt/amp meter to see what works best. I mounted ours on the deck, always facing up. They kept 800 amp hrs of batteries up for 2 week runs over and over with everything running and no problems. We had a lot of electronics too.

Yes, you're probably right. They are close to 3 years old now, it's a pity they won't last longer... We'll see what to do about it. Lithium would be nice, but still very expensive, initially. Thanks for watching!

Take a look at the firefly brand of carbon foam batteries. fireflyenergy.com/ More pricy than a regular agm, but in the long run less expensive. if you can't afford lipo4, then this is the next best thing imo. So I'm dying to know..... Was the ice cream any good?

Well, for this voyage, I'm right there with you, because I have chartered a ship in BVI 4-5 times, the last one being a 51-foot monohull. Beautiful ship, fast, four staterooms. I have a couple of questions. (1) Have you guys ever thought about getting a spray bottle that would hold about a pint of bleach and spray the bottom of your RIB when it's out of the water to get rid of the junk that's growing there? It would only take about a half pint. We used to run 6 or 8 hundred crab pots a day and the moss would build up until the buoys wouldn't float anymore as the months went by. We'd dip the buoy in a 5 gallon stainless milk container, set it on a ramp that drained the excess bleach back into the container and throw it back in when the next pot came up. The next morning, when we ran the gear again, the buoys would be moss free. (2)Have you heard about Carbon Foam Batteries? You can discharge them 80% to 100% and it does no damage to them. You get half again more out of your batteries than normal lead acid batteries, plus they recharge faster. They are a "little expensive" though.(:>) www.pacificnwboater.com/channels/marine-product-demos-installations/programs/firefly-oasis-carbon-foam-battery
