The local government in Ibaraki gave us free reign for three days to film whatever places we wanted, and I happened to stumble upon this cafe through my frantic googling. THANK GOD WE DID because this is legitimately the most beautiful restaurant we've ever seen in our lives!! It's right next to a waterfall (which you can walk under) on a mountainside and there is nothing else nearby. No ugly cities right out of view, just nature and this beautiful soba restaurant! There are a lot of other waterfalls nearby, as well as apple orchards, a river, and some lovely cafes and ryokans. If you get a chance, I recommend stopping by Daigo for a day! It's probably best to rent a car because I'm not sure how accessible most places are by train!

Don't know if you're gonna see this, but thanks to you guys I'll be able to see the Ghibli Museum. I'll be in Kyoto and Tokyo next year for a little bit of time, and I wanted to go to that museum. After seeing the science and geology museum videos you guys made, I did a bit of research for museums in general in Tokyo and that's when I realized the tickets for the Ghibli Museum had to be purchased in advance! Seems really random, but your video sparked my curiosity and that's why I managed to learn that. I'll probably go to a bunch of other museums as well, and I wanted to say thank you! And your videos are just beautiful! Greetings from Costa Rica! 😊

Gabi There's actually science to back up nature making you calmer and feel better. Waterfalls let off ions, which actually elevate your mood and relieve depression and stress. Being surrounded by nature in general, like a lot of woods and trees has been shown to elevate your mood and help with depression as well. Being in nature does wonders ;)

This video has made me realise how much of an inspiration you both are to me. Rachel, your journey from one side of the world to the other, your perseverance in learning Japanese while retaining your personality has inspired me to do the same, you are endlessly impressive and it gives me hope for the future. Jun, you are a remarkable role model for a kind, intelligent and humble human being, you inspired me to learn how to cook, and have influenced the way that I react to life's challenges. The whole "shou ga nai" attitude of yours is something that has been vital in my daily life since watching your videos. Both of you deserve each other and inspire me to find someone who I may be able to share the same sort of joy with. I am only this minute realising that life moves quickly, and that if I don't have any ambition or goal for myself, then I am letting my life go to waste. You both give me ambition. You both give me a goal to strive for. Thank you.

For years I've been trying to get into AIR (Artist In Residence) in Ibaraki. It's where they pick 3 artists from around the world to come and live in the area and do art for 3 months. They pay for everything and give you a small studio space and an apartment. They do it all over Japan (and other countries) but I like the one in Ibaraki. It's really hard to get into though, they only pick 3 out of about 300 applicants every year. And I think at least one has to be a girl so that's only 2 spots for me.
