I made 16 different style mask and had the people I was making them for to try them all a couple of days and let me know their favorite. Everyone except one choose this design. I had no preference and did not tell them anything. I just numbered the mask and asked for their favorite. It is the easiest to cut out and with the new shortcut it is the easiest to sew. A real winner here.

By far this is my MOST favorite mask! I have made all the mask that my son and I use. It is also the favorite of my 7 year old nephew. I have made about 4 dozen. I love the time saving step where you sew the mask and liner at the same time. I am currently making mask to donate to my nephew's school.

This is the only pattern I use, and I have been through a couple of patterns.. I also wanted to tell you I am one of those few that still make and just give away. I work at a truck stop and I see the need with truck drivers to give them one. The mans pattern fits them perfectly. I make them with a nose piece. I sew a bias tape on after it is done and slip the nose piece in there. If it breaks I can just open the end up and replace it. That is so easy. I will not try the longer strap method as it would be too costly. I do insert the breathers to ones that have asthma. It helps with the talking through them and u don't have the laboured breathing. Your masks make it easier by far to breathe in. It is farther from your face when wearing it. Thank you so much for the pattern. I have tweaked a couple parts of the sewing but generally I end up with the same results.

Thank you for making more sizes. Everyone I have made these for (friends & family) love your mask. I actually input the elastic through like this new version when I started making the medium. It was easier to wear comfortably and didn't have to worry about forgetting it when leaving house or in and out of car for errands day. I will have to try the flat elastic. looks like it is going to be comfortable.

I'd use the same measurement as the adult's. They can then clip off the excess as needed. 36" is the length I use for this style.

Thanks for the great tutorials. The only thing that stops me from making this mask is the seam down the middle of the mask. I would love love love to see a version that is the same but with no seam. Maybe you have posted one? I just briefly looked at your tutorial on how to make it via the link you attatched. I like your string idea. I was using t-shirt string with the same set up but with the tie behind the head instead of the neck. Just backwards from yours. I like your idea better and also the material for that strap. Awesome. Thanks for all the work that you do. I don't sew. Started making masks with the pleats and was breaking needles and having all kinds of trouble. I still stay away from those thick pleats hahaha

Her mask doesn't have a seam down the center. I make mine with a seam because I want both pieces sewn together but she doesn't do a seam.
@PrettyHandyGirl4 жыл бұрын
The original prototype had a seam, but the liner was solid. This mask doesn't have a seam, only a small dart for the top and bottom, but researchers showed a pin going through fabric at high magnification and shows the fibers returning to close the hole as soon as the needle is moved. I trust the safety of these masks or I wouldn't share.

I have always loved sewing machine since our black SInger with Gold writing but now may enjoy technology- I got a Vintage green Singer 2 years ago and it almost caught fire I should never have used and kept as a display antique! Boy, it sure would be cool to not have to thread the needle. I watched some reviews and really don't want to end up wanting something different if not enough features OR Get a too hard to operate machine?? Thanks! NEED HELP ASAP!

Thank you for sharing this great mask. Is there a way to construct the mask so that the nose clip is removable? Any feedback you can provide would be great as I am not an accomplished sewer.
@sistertam4 жыл бұрын
I am going to chime in here. I make only her mask pattern. I sew it together then take bias tape and sew it as much as needed on the nose area at the top then put the nose piece in and sew it closed. If by chance the nosepiece breaks all u have to do is remove the end stitch pull out the old nosepiece and insert a new one in and zig zag the end closed. Once again, this is how I do it, not how the designer does it. I just wanted to share my way with you. I hope this helps.

I love this mask and your tutes but is it a good idea to have it hanging around your next when not on your face? If you have been in contact with the virus and it is on the outside of the mask you could potentially come into contact with it. And if you are asymptomatic, it will be on the inner side then you might still spread it.

Obviously everyone needs to make decisions on the safety of mask usage. For the most part, as long as you aren't in close contact with people it should be fine.
