A while ago my bone stock ruck was idling fine but when trying to take off it would try but bog out. I manhandled the carb off the bike, unscrewed the jets, one had a tiny white speck in it. Gave the carb a little clean and it was good as new and still runs great, very simple carb gaskets were all reusable. I did change the fuel filter as a percaution, I got a new fuel pump but never installed it. If your stock ruckus is having issues don't worry, you will be able to fix it if you get your hands dirty. Have a look at your airbox, the plastic "box" around the filter becomes warped, you don't want air getting past the filter, that wasn't my problem but I nipped it in the butt before it ran to lean. To fix it I wedged a folded napkin in the airbox to brace the bent part flush. Any issues I had rolling wrench has a video on like this one which is sweet. Thanks rolling wrench. I never use ethanol fuel in small carbs, asking for trouble.

That’s user error. The reason why the pump goes out is because most Ruckus owners run their tanks dry. It doesn’t help that there is no fuel gauge, only a low-fuel LED Indicator. I’ve had fuel pumps that were 15-20 years old that were still good on the Metropolitan, which uses the same fuel pump but has an actual fuel gauge. The best way to avoid this issue on a Ruckus is to have 2-3 5-litre gas canisters handy with gas and refill every 100 km. Don’t wait until the light comes on.

@@RollingWrench I know people are going to do what they do, but I'm making people aware of why this is. It's simply not as big an issue on the Metropolitan because it has a gas gauge. It's honestly a bit bizarre that Honda never added a gas gauge at some point during the model's 20+ year run. It's the only scooter I know of that does not have a gas gauge.

I honestly hate these things. Bought one after going through a couple Chinese ones thinking I just need to invest a little more. Starts giving me problems at 5K just like the knock offs. There are so many parts that can fail and if you're not a mechanic you are just lost because the internet is going to tell you something different every time. When Ebikes start getting 150 miles range and 35mph I'm buying in. Also no license and insurance crap. Gas scooters suck man. No wonder the US market is so small for them.

2018 Honda Rukus, Quit running, Ne OEM Fuel pump, will not keep pumping, Primes up by turning ignition on and off, and can choke it by hand and it will run for a bit, 2 new pumps same problem, also changed carb before this and ran a lot better, But now fuel pump not pumping problem? Help, New Battery, re-set ECU, same scenario.

Mine was doing that noise put a new fuel pump and notging. Honda couldent even Find out out what was wrong. I ended up just swapping motors

Hey dude i cleaned my carb on my ruckus and now it wont turn over. I took apart the choke and cleaned it and i am worried that is the reason why it wont start. Any solutions?

Hey I replaced my fuel pump and the new pump blew out my fuses. I replaced my fuses and put my old pump back and it turns on (electric lights ect) but my pump doesn't tick anymore and won't start my bike

Did you replace it with a original Honda pump? I have seen these issues with the eBay / Amazon knock off pumps :-( if the pump doesn’t pump anymore with the old pump chances are you fried the ecu. I have seen this too :-(

@@RollingWrench It was a used one I got from ebay. The guy had a ruckus running video and it was "proof" it came on that bike and was working it cost me 40$. Now that you say that I think it going to be that. My ruckus is a 2018 with only 1200 miles. Do you think my bike is under manufacture warranty? Or do you think I have to get new ecu and pump

Are you purchasing a actual Honda pump? If not that explains it :-(

You can purchase a after market fuel pump or a original Honda pump. What one are you purchasing. The after market pumps are really really bad. I hope this clears it up

I just bought a brand new pump and it clicks as well as the other 2 I tried. Replaced coil air filter cleaned carb and all new fuel lines and filters. Still bogs down when throttled. The air box is warped so I duct taped the seal. It’ll rev up if I plug the vacuum line to top of carb. Then still dies. Gonna put new carb. And vacuum lines because the small cracks. As well as hopefully get a new air box cover.
