What makes a great movie? We live in a time when the film industry is pumping out countless films because of the emergence of streaming services. But unfortunately, a good number of those movies are two hours of your life you will never get back.
Great movies, on the other hand, are thought-provoking and boundary-pushing works. They usually involve great acting, breathtaking cinematography, and masterful direction. But sometimes a great movie is only recognized years after it has been released. It was either too controversial, ahead of its time, or just hard to watch. To that end, we’ve made a video listing the most controversial movies of all time. Watch if you dare!
#Movies #Controversy #Films
Last House on the Left | 0:00
The Last Temptation of Christ | 1:25
The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) | 2:31
Song of the South | 3:28

Jenny Lousie grant yeah seriously don’t watch it, the images are burned into my head from that movie. It’s probably the most fd up movie I’ve ever seen and will never watch it or anything like it again and I’m a big horror fan but it’s not so much horror as it just disgusting behavior and rape of children. And a lot of the stuff that happen in the movie happened for real like THEY ACTUALLY DID IT it wasn’t acting.

i finally saw that recently, and it is not as bad as it is said to be. my understanding is the reason it is banned is it shows the actors killing a couple real animals. bad, but movies then didn't have strict rules on that, and i would bet that animals in other movies were in more pain for way longer. and, sea world etc. the plot is actually way ahead of it's time too in that it is "found footage" in a way. plus, the bad guys do get what they deserve. there is simulated sexual assault, but again that is in lots of movies up until very recently. this movie is nothing like what i thought it would be from a banned movie.

"Life of Brian was a satirical take on the life of Christ." Er, it wasn't actually. The pythons themselves said that they saw nothing funny about Christ, and instead concentrated on peripheral silliness like people's tendency to see Messiahs at every turn. They also took a good swipe at unions. To understand the intentions of filmmakers you should always ask them first.

@Grimread
@Grimread 6 жыл бұрын
Excellent point. The misconception given in the video is the main reason there was a stink about the film in the first place. Jesus appears at the beginning of the film giving his sermon on the mount almost to labour the point that it's NOT about Jesus. And the idea that people will see Messiahs at every turn, follow them unswervingly and attribute non-existent miracles to them is still relevant. It now has a broad parallel with the USA's current problem of political partisanship.

@pzooka
@pzooka 5 жыл бұрын
What you've said is definitely correct, but what the video's narrator didn't explicitly say Monty Python crew was parodying the tragedy of Christ. Many viewers may have interpreted it that way but few often read between the lines and think about what has been said from many different angles. So if someone wants to view an analysis or critique of a work that crudely, it's completely up to them!
@pzooka
@pzooka 5 жыл бұрын
TecDax Many people don't want their religion even near the butt of any kind of joke regardless of the context or content. Even though the Monty Python movie wasn't teasing Christianity's beliefs or biblical accuracies, a large majority of "God fearing" christians would never even consider watching a comedic movie with the theme of Christ's life. Monty python were just one of those brain trusts ahead of their time

Wow! I have 3 things to say. 1. The life of Brian was an awesome film, I don't care what anybody says. 2. The Last House on the Left was probably one of the best terror/suspense movies of the seventies/eighties genre. 3. I actually have an old copy of Song of the South( pre censorship), on VHS. It's grainy and the sound squelches quite a bit. But it is an original version. In my opinion, you really have to pay attention to it to see the oppression. It is there though, and I find the notion disgusting. But I do not think it should have been banned, but rather saved as a tool of learning. Societies' consciousness changes over time, and it is a good benchmarker. Try to use the bad for good.

The Last Temptation of Christ is not a bad movie. the religious whackos were just told they should be offended by this movie, and they did like little sheep without watching it. If they watched it, it would show Jesus making a bigger sacrifice for humanity than just giving up his life. but they were to enraged in their ignorance to know any different. Ironically, the Da Vinci code took it much further, not only did Jesus have a wife, he had children, of which there are secret factions of that protect the "blood of Christ" is his bloodline. good movie btw.
@jongoff7829
@jongoff7829 6 жыл бұрын
You fail to understand the sacrifice of Christ, which wasn't giving up his life. The atonement was Christ taking on the sins of everyone, that is the punishment, the agony of the damned, and bearing that cost so we wouldn't have to. The loss of his life was trivial in comparison because he knew that, as Christ, he had power over life and death, and his death was in his power and no other. Christ wasn't killed by the Romans. Christ surrendered his life to complete his mission and become the lamb of God, taking on the sins of his people in reality as sacrificial lambs had symbolically done so for hundreds of years. Christ's moment of doubt, his last temptation was in the desert, prior to the start of his ministry, where he fasted 40 days and nights, and was visited by the great deceiver and beguiler, Lucifer. It was there that Christ wrestled with all his temptations, and overcame them. So please, before criticizing the adherents of a faith about which you clearly know very little, try to educate yourself. The last Temptation of Christ is a deeply flawed movie, and yes, I've seen it. Hollywood once knew how to make epic movies of the Bible. They lost that ability when they abandoned Christianity itself for the faux version they embrace now.

When I was a young child, Song of the South was my favorite movie. I thought Uncle Remus was the most wonderful person and to be exact I wished that I had such a nice friend. I'm NOT black. I can't believe that people still think it's a racist movie because he was such a nice person. I can still sing the song, because I heard it so much. I am now 71 years old. The movie came out when I was still a baby. Of course, you can see anything you want from any movie. This whole thing about political correctness is ridiculous. How can a BELOVED character be bad?
@jigrodrigues

People try to create controversy over anything and everything. Uncle Remus was a great character and James Baskett a respected actor. Mostly because its based off of black stereotypes and cheap tropes. You wouldn't have known when you were young and honestly...I dont think anyone should blame you for that. My mom loves Holiday Inn and I wanted to love it too, but the minute black face comes on it is a no-go for me. She acknowledges its incredibly inappropriate now, but still likes the movie. Something you'll notice about a lot of these movies is that basically none of them have big name actors in them. They're always full of unknowns whose careers never go anywhere, or actors who were once huge but haven't had a hit in years, and are hoping this movie will revitalize their careers. Another common tactic employed by studios is find possible stars and have them sign contracts to make a specific number of movies with them, usually targeting unknown actors who sign on hoping to jumpstart a career, but they end up getting cast in low budget shit that is meant to easily turn a profit regardless of quality. Then there's the fact that Hollywood is just a sleazy place and someone gets cast in a movie because someone has evidence of them doing something morally and/or legally wrong, and the only way to prevent that information getting leaked is to be in the shitty movie that some studio executive's nephew wrote.

Life of Brian was not about Jesus Christ. It was about someone who is constantly being mistaken for the Messiah. There are several scenes in the film where, in the background, Jesus is depicted going about his work and Brian is in the foreground sometimes being mistaken for him. The opening scene in the film depicts the nativity, and the Kings mistakenly knocking on the wrong door. If it depicts anything, then it represents Palestine as it probably was. When I was at school, my Religious Knowledge teacher told us that, at that time, there were lots of people called Jesus, and quite a few of them claimed to be the Messiah. So when John Cleese in the film, states that Brian is the Messiah and he should know because he's seen quite a few of them, he's probably reflecting the people of the time.

There have also been a fair few people since who have claimed to be the Messiah or Christ returned, including Charles Manson!!! Ive seen Life of Brian and I didnt think of it as being really blapshemous. God will know their mtives anyway and if it's what they say it was, He wont be offended and will probably have a good laugh at it too!

I m a christian and I love the song also I wasn t shocked by the last temptation of christ, just scared by the talking serpent ; I liked the movie because it s a "what if" movie it probably came to Jesus's mind "what if I refuse to do it? what if I marry and have a normal family life? maybe he imagined himself shopping at the market with his kids like seen in the movie (cute scene) and it makes his sacrifice even more wonderful

"The Exorcist" caused a wave of mass hysteria in 1973 with its' unflinchingly graphic scenes of demonic possession and invasive (but now archaic) medical procedures. Audiences threw up, fainted and even walked out during the film. Seeing a little girl howl blasphemous profanity, masturbate with a crucifix and spin her head 360' was quite a shock back in '73.

The last temptation of Christ was an awesome movie that , I believe , took a very human approach to life of jesus, and why not he was human. What would you do if you found out you life purpose was to die . to save humanity? The was a smart and honest approach which focused on a less ethearical Jesus , and showed a more human side to him. Jesus himself would appreciate this movie.

The whole bit about getting married and having kids doesn't quite seem right though. The temptation of JESUS probably would have been more so to just ascend to Heaven right there, though for my ancestor Conall Cearnach the greatest temptation was not to be furious at the situation and instead understand the necessity and awesomeness of it, awful as it may be.

I really don't get people trying to 'ban' movies from cinemas. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Nobody's forcing you to. Just don't tell other people what they can or can't take. It's up to everyone to choose the movies they wants to see for themselves. Bloody hell, why does everyone care so much about what other people do with their lives? It's none of your business, folks!
